We got to Tallman's Reach at first light, marked lots of fish but never found any topwater, except carp and gar, so decided to go to Wolf Cove. Found a boat show way out in front of it and slabbed some. We only saw a few get caught so went on over to the cove. There was a pretty tight circle of boats in there just breaking up and we saw a few nice ones caught there. Went on back out to Holiday Humps and trolled a little. We got a few nice sandies but too crowded so we headed on over to finger point. Again, marked lots of fish anywhere from 30' to 13'. They didn't want the slab, (or I suck) so we broke out the hell-pet. As long as we kept it close to the bottom in 15-19 feet of water we caught lots of fish. Some HUGE sand bass in the mix.
We knocked it off about 11 and saw Luck of the Irish with a nice mess for his customers today. Hey Omar, that was Mike and Brian that said hi over there. Guess you didn't recognize Brian in his bandanna/sunglasses/camo outfit. lol
Anyway, we caught a lot of yellow bass too. I have never done it but I decided to keep a mess for the heck of it. Yes, they are a lot of trouble for a little meat but it is as white a crappie and very firm. I'm looking forward to frying them up. Has anyone else ever filleted a mess of yellow bass?
