Ok guys sorry if this is long.

Moving into a house on a private electric only lake. Just bought a 17 ft Spectrum Dominator alum boat. It came with NO gas motor. So now I need to rig it for electric running.

I was going to go with a huge 101+lb trolling motor up front but decided it would be best to put the bigger motors on back and just use a 55-77lb up front to steer, help move boat.

Here is my problem.. This lake has fishing tournments every month and alot of the guys have huge trolling motors on their boats so they get to the best spots first. For example a couple run the Briggs and Straton 3hp electric motor(150lbs). Plus some even run the bigger $$ ones. I know I can't compete with the BIG dogs but I also don't want to be the last one getting somewhere.

So what do you suggest? Of course I need to keep it as money friendly as possible. I'm not rich by far just a regular working joe.

Should I buy one of these, Minn Kota Vector 101 Motor with Weedless Wedge™ II Prop and 3X Steering Item:IJ-017214

$739.99 . and then maybe add another later?? Or should I go with the cheaper 80lb and add another one later?? The 101 lb is 36V and 80 is 24volt. I don't think I would have a problem putting 4 batteries in the back but 6 might be crowding it abit.

I would put the front trolling motor battery up front somewhere else.

Ok I know this is long.. Just wanting some opinions. Maybe some of you have already done something like this..Thx.

the 3 x is out of production i believe on the bigger motors there was just too much torque minnkota does make some electrics for pontoons that can be hooked to steering cable, but if you dont have one just use a transom 101 and a 12 v 55 up front you dont need a 24v up front and just come off one of the batteries from your 101
