This makes me ill. Read the article in the link. Fishers, as they call us have done more for the environment than PETA will ever hope to. Don't get me started on who is actually trashing up the shores. I will say this much, it ain't the typical sport angler whether fishing by boat or shore. It is someone fishing alright, but not sport anglers. I will leave it at that and leave it up to ya'll to discern.

These people make me sick , there to ignorant to realize that WE as hunters and fisherman are the reason that the fish and wildlife are in the best shape ever. you bet your bottom dollar they dont donate money to the state that they live in, to help sustain and control wildlife and fishery's. I guess they will never understand that all the money we spend on liscenes and such, all goes back to the state to help keep the wildlife and fishery's in the best shape possible, so these Nimrods can "view" them, as they call it. I could go one and one.

I have been fishing a wind blown cove the last few days and later today I will post a photo of all the non-"sport angler" plastic worms, a wire creel, nylon stringers, lure packages, crank-baits, and mono and braid line we have collected.

I am not trying to be contrary or do I support PETA but it was alarming to find this stuff along the shoreline and in the shrubs that were underwater a few weeks ago.

Sue and her husband worked for nearly an hour to completely untangle the bird, cut off the barb, and remove the hook.

Sue and her husband need more hobbies---it's a dang bird!!!

Those peta idiots are trying to brainwash our children.

http://www.nofishing.net/kids.html

If someone asks you to go fishing, explain why you won’t go. Tell them that fish have feelings and deserve to live just like anyone else. Suggest some of these activities instead: Frisbee, kite-flying, basketball, snorkeling, in-line skating, riding your bike, or bird watching. There are lots of ways to have fun outside without hurting your animal friends!

If your town is holding a fishing tournament or other fishing event, hold a demonstration—it’s easy, and it only takes a few people. Make some signs with slogans like "Hooks Hurt" and "Fishing Is No Fun for Fish" and stand outside the event. Pass out leaflets (order them from PETA) and tell people the fish’s side of the story.

I swear, if one of these peta idiots ever gets in my face, I will kick their teeth down their throat.

"You say fishing hurts? Wrong, f-ing with a fisherman hurts!"

A while back I beached my boat and cleaned up a shoreline full of styrofoam cups beer cans, line, plastic soda bottles with line wrapped around them. It was this experience that leads me to believe the non sport fisherman is the main cause of the shoreline trash. I do understand that the sport angler contributes to the trash as well, however I firmly believe that the majority of sport anglers have the conservation of our water, land and wildlife in mind when they are on the water. The non sport angler, from what I have seen, could care less of such efforts.

Last time I bank fished at GV (last Sunday) there was trash all over the place...empty beer cans plastic bags, ice bags...all kinds of stuff. I found 3 plastic bags and filled them up with trash and took them to the dumpster.

Kelly and I fished GV from my boat today and we both remarked on some shorleline areas we fish the trash was everywhere...

I absolutely can't stand PETA but I will agree the majority of this trash was left by people fishing from the bank and too lazy to pick up their trash...

It must be hard for some people to break old habits like leaving fish on the bank to rot and smell up the place for other fishermen.

I was the second person on site last Sunday at Lake o' the Pines Dam. Who ever had been there ahead of me left about 30 fish on the grass-mostly dink sandies and bream along with a few crappie and beer cans.

The carcasses were already drawing an abundance of fire ants and flies. I threw most of the bodies back in the water. The turtles and crawdads will take care of them.

Makes me sick some times to see the mess people leave. From What I have observed it is not the sport fishermen leaving the mess.

Vegetables and fruit are living creatures too!

PETA makes me sick with their abundance of ignorance. Such a damn waste of signs, and time standing around yelling about ridiculous stuff. If they really cared, they would do something benefitial with that time such as cleaning up the shorelines, getting more trash cans there, or something to that degree

I never understood why they leave the fish on the bank to die, which is also breaking the law. If they don't want them, why don't they release them?

I read that article. I like the part that instructs kids to write a story from the fishes point of view, what he or she is thinking. That would be a short story, they are thinking two things, eating and reproduction.
