The epoxy will sag, but as an alternative to a turner, you can put the hook in a clotherpin and simply turn it over when it starts to sag. Do that a few times and then it will quit. They call it 5 minute for a reason, but the 30 minute stuff only sags for about a minute longer.

It just takes a little getting used to. Like a lot of tying materials, it takes them a little while to train us.

Got my nice foam cylinders today in the mail, thank you so much Mike! They will get put to good use. I will try and make you a couple I'm not embarrassed about. I made two ear plug poppers so far. None picture worthy yet......lol. I will try to make up more when I'm not running kids around the metroplex of Tyler/Longview.

in a pinch you can use the foam cylinders for ear plugs too smile j/k I am glad you like them & hope they work well (they should be a lot easier to push needle with silicone legs thru)

Foam arrived today, thank you kindly Mike!

your welcome...I watched 6 videos on you tube of spinning deer hair & trimming it...amazing, they look so beautiful but they also look to be very time consuming & after all that effort I don't know if I could stand to loose one, so I'll probably stick with the foam (thats the long way to say I'm lazy) but you can really make foam look pretty good with some sharpies & a set of eyes (that the fish probably don't care about).

Yes the soft foam should be much easier to add legs if I want to put them on there.....MUCH easier, thanks again!

I have seen videos on the deer hair bugs too Mike, and they do look time consuming, but not TOO BAD. Eventually I will probably try it. Right now I have too many other things to tye on my list. HLS ties some awesome deer hair bugs.

heres my attempt at making some poppers for schooling bass...admittedly these are much more like lure making than fly tying.

I love those "schooling bass" poppers you tied. They look great. I can volunteer to test them out and see how the Metroplex fish like them wink LOL!

you should see my dining room table, feathers all over the floor, scraps of silicone legs, anyway I'm gonna post these & then go clean up...I guess one is a re-run, but it along with the other 3 are my first bass poppers, its kinda fun & frustrating...maybe one day I'll tie a "real" fly.

Well you sure did a great job Mike. I thought you said you didn't tye! Those will be raking in the bass as you toss 'em out. Hey, and you even managed to get the legs in okay...hehehe.
I know what you mean about feathers flying...I tye in from of an ac unit. I bet your wife was not too happy about the feathers going all around like that...oh well. Fly tying is not the easiest thing, but it isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be when I first started. You should try more kinds of flies now Mike!

Poppers is the street term for various alkyl nitrites taken for recreational purposes through direct inhalation, particularly amyl nitrite, butyl nitrite and isobutyl nitrite. Amyl nitrite has a history of medical use in treating angina, as well as an antidote to cyanide poisoning.
