from the lights should be okay, its suppose to be not so windy, so fish may not be stacked up in the canals, but who knows.

Sweet place, for sure.. Was hoping to go shark-fishing on SPI this weekend with friend with 4x4, but just found out he's not going now because of all the sargassm-sea-weed... And now,I'll never be able to get rid of my saltwater-fishing itch now... So I guess I'm just going to have to make the 300+mile drive myself, and try to at least find some Trout+Reds... Of coarse, Flounder,Sheepshead,Gaftop,Whiting and Sand-trout... Are allowed to go in my (other) ice chest..... Will post report when I do...

I got to Rockport at 7:00. No frickin' croakers or piggies to be found! You gotta be there by 5:00 I was told. The bait shop area near Little Bay that had a mess of bait shops a year ago, now has 3 and one of those shrimp boats is for sale. Shrimp is even a little hard to come by right now.
Anyway, I got some shrimp and put in at Italian Point-my first time there. Neat place, really. I got into a mess of small specs-consistent with reports I have been reading. I only had one keeper and it got off at the boat.
By 11:00, the wind had kicked up just enough that the water that was beautiful when I started murked up a bit and and hard head moved in. I moved out.
I went back to the bait shops-still no croaker or piggies and even less shrimp.
I waded for a while, but the water was still sandy where I was and all I managed was one fish in 2 hours, so I came home.
I think we need the winds to calm down a little more and to get some good tides in. It looked like the deeper reef areas held some good water, but I don't have a PB to get there, so I have no idea how that panned out today.
I had a better day than one kid. His friend asked me where a hospital was and I asked why. He said he didn't know what was wrong with his friend, who was in pain. I looked in the vehicle and the kid was holding his lower right quadrant abdomen, pail as hell, and sweating profusely. Never strong on tact, I told the kid to drive to the hospital without stops and told the victim that he should call his family or whoever because he was going to have his appendix out today. My fishing day may not have been the best, but compared to his, it was awesome!

Thanks, for report. To catch bait fish. I always take both of my 6 foot cast-nets, in case I get 1 hung-up. And spend an hour or more, trying to mend it Will be trying for specks at night under lights when I go, and would like to check out the Packery Channel. Being never been there since opened. Also, might try some surf-fishing on PINS. !!Good Fishing And Fun To All!!

slow is right, there must have been 75-100 boats staging up in the ski basin(little bay) they were having like 4 tournaments this weekend and a big one it port-a also, I couldn't/didn't even try to launch my boat Saturday morning and I was up by 5, had bait and gas by 5:45 and I was still way too late, I'm giving up fish during the summers on a weekend
