Went out from 4:00pm till 7:30pm. Trolled south of the island and hooked a huge sandbass. It bent my pole a lot more than the normal dinks. When I got it close to the boat it started dragging the line of my reel. Unfortunately I didn't get to land it as I mucked about trying to make sure that it didn't swim into my spinning propeller. Note to self ... shut off the motor when I make a strike ... sigh.

After that I went and tried some catfishing against the shoreline on the north of the island. I tried to use bluegill but realized I had no idea how to prepare that as bait. See specific post on that subject. I skunked there. Next I went south of the island, again against the shore and this time was rewarded with two small channel cats within about 10 minutes of each other. Both were caught with Secret 7 on full size red-tubes with trebbles. The bluegill bait was left untouched.

I headed into the powerstation bay looking for gar but found none.

Bumped into my friend Fishinboy and his dad. Always good to see those guys. Handed over a tub of Secret 7 that I had been keeping for him and he showed me a spot that he has been having good luck at with catfishing in recent times. I marked it on my Tom Tom for another day.

I was planning on using this outing to field test my "hacked" underwater video camera with infrared floodlights, shock absorbing pads, self righting on the bottom with an arm to hold bait 3 feet in front of the camera ... but broke an electrical connection before I even got started ... so that too will have to wait for another day.

Fished the mid lake hump ... nothing but managed to snag my anchor but with luck ... managed to unsnag it by pulling from the opposite direction.

Back at the docks, I wanted to "play" with catching bluegill. I found that I could catch as many as I wanted on virtually every cast. Cast is a bit of a mis-statement. I used an 8 foot poll with a cricket hook attached to a snap swivel with a crappie nibble as bait and "plopped" it near the fish I could see. They took it every time. Where are my nieces and nephews when I need them!!
