Best spot I know of know is the off the rocks on the side of the old dam facing lake dallas (i.e. Westlake Park). Chum works well for bluegill. Depending on how young your kids are they may appreciate "feeding the fish".

I like using a 1 dollar bag of catfood from the everything's 99 cent store. Throw out a few hand fulls everytime things slow down. The catfood sinks, barely. I am sure just about anything old in your fridge works. I have heard coffee grounds work, can get a bag from starbucks for free.

Coffee ground...I've never heard of that but will give it go. Thanks for the tip!
