My friends and I are taking a charter offshore and have 3 questions:
1. Is it worth going 35 miles out to get after the billfish or just go to the nearshore spots - like the platforms?
2. What can we expect to catch if we just go nearshore?
3. Any specific charter recommendations?

Thanks in advance. I will gladly return any info I can on Lighthouse Lakes fishing as that is my regular Port A spot.

Are you going for billfish? Those trips are more specialized and expensive. You should have a chance at catching wahoo, tuna and dolphin and maybe get a shot at a billfish. You will probably go more then 35 miles. Near shore; kingfish, snapper, ling and sharks within 20 miles. I have friends that enjoy fishing on the High Bid.

Last weekend we caught wahoo and one sail about 30 miles out. We have caught lots of large snapper and kings around rigs in about 12 - 14 fathoms this week.
