I have a 1999 chevy 1500 2w drive silververodo xtned cab past due for shock replacement. I use it pull a 3500 lb. boat approx 2,000 mi + per yr.
The back of the truck has always sagged w/regular shocks. Should I go back w/regular shocks or buy something adjustible for towing??? Any suggestions???

I used the monroe yellow ones.Had no problems. If you have a tandem trailer and have a reciever hitch raise the ball. It will put more weight back onto the trailer.

I got some monroe heavy duty gas magnumbs, they were reasonable in price, and handle everything from empty to 30' travel trailer just fine.

1 note. Replacing the shocks will not stop the rear end from sagging. The sole purpose of a shock is to keep the wheels in contact with the road. If you've ever seen a vehicle with a wheel bouncing un-controlably while driving down the road, then you've seen the results of a bad shock.

With that bieng said some companys make shocks with "helper" springs attached. But, honestly those are a band-aid for a problem.

I agree with Dave. Too many times I have heard people that think that shocks will keep a vehicle from sagging. It si the springs that support the weight of the vehicle and everything in it. You could try some helper springs if it loading that is causing the truck to sag. Otherwise you probably need nwe springs.

Monroe has some adjustible 30-150 psi airshocks to pressurize to eliminate sag while towing. I can't find anyone who has used or know of anybody who has used these before. The idea sounds good. I just don't know how well they would work or hold up.

Go here http://www.shox.com/ and order the Bilstein's. Great improvement over the Monroe's that were on my 1/2 ton Chevy. I only tow a 22' Mosca & have no sag problems, truck has 253k and love the ride....
