Just wondering how many people would like to see Bass Champs go to Lake Corpus Christi one time next year. This would be for the south region.

I've launched from 3 boat ramps on that lake, and none of the parking lots were nearly big enough to hold 30 boat trailers, needless to say 150+.

I think it could be done at the state park. But people would have to trailer also. I think if it could be done it would be cool to see what kind of weights Bass Champs guys could catch out of this lake.

BassSlayer it is almost the same size as Choke and it would be cool to fish a lake where you can fish docks.

Fish Lake Corpus Christi and not fish Falcon, Amistad, or Choke Canyon!! You need to be a comedian!

Bigron you would still fish Falcon,Amistad, and Choke but go to Lake Corpus Christi one time just to see. Chris it would take more than that have you been there lately. I have been catching 15 to 20 pounds.

You are lucky in the south. Bass Champs East fishes Rayburn all but one tourmnament a year, so be happy you at least get to go to 3 lakes.

If I was you I would call Bass Champs and try to change that. They are great people and want to make the fisherman happy. I don't think I would fish the east if thats all they go to.

I would think with the sheer number of Champs anglers and the quality of the guys that fish the trail you would see that 15-20lbs drop by at least 50% after being pounded in practice and then getting ganged up on tourney day. Heck it happens on bigger lakes. That 15-20lbs Monday through Thursday shrinks big time when the weekend pressure gets there.

Maybe so but I would still like to see what Bass Champs could do on this lake.

I think this would be awsome not just the 3 lakes. Why not change the lakes up from time to time! This would seperate the good fisherman from the ones that fish the same lakes!

Realize this guys. Bass Champs is in the business to make money. So they will fish where they can draw the numbers. That is why they backed off of Toledo Bend. (There is a significant drop in the entries compared to Rayburn.) Why would tournament guys want to pay to go to Lake Corpus Christi when they could go to the "Real" lakes and catch more fish??? I don't think it is too realistic to expect Bass Champs to go to a "2nd rate" lake when they can go to a "1st class" lake and draw more entries. There might be other localized tournament circuits that could incorporate it. I know that Media Tournament Circuit goes to many many different regional lakes but they have a lot of different divisions.

I heard several very true statements regarding this issue

Yes, Choke canyon fishes very small during much of the year. When bass champs happened, only the Northern shoreline areas were productive, however; during the summer the other side of the lake opens up, as well as offshore spots.

Now, Mathis always fishes bigger than choke, in my opinion. To me, it fishes alot like Conroe. For there size, which is about the same, they have alot of fishing area throughout the year.

However, the parking lots/ramps would be a major problem at Mathis, for such a big tourny.

As for the actual fishing, I think that Mathis would really show who's who when it comes to fishing. There is lots of fish in Mathis, but do to the avg size fish, grinding out a solid limmit does take some skill. The big ones are out there, but are not as easy to catch like at Falcon or Choke.

However, I do not want to see major tournys come to mathis. It is my refuge lake against the tourny crowds of Choke Canyon. However, I would like to see the looks on the skiers faces when fisherman show up 150 boats strong. Look Out!!

For one thing Bass Champs is the only circuits that comes down this far except for FLW and BASS. So thats why it would have to be Bass Champs if people wanter to see a circuit try it out. As far as second rate lake I dont think so, yes you dont catch the number of big fish in it but it is as good or better than alot of the North divisions lakes. People just dont give it a chance or they are not good anough fisherman to figure it out.

People have a point about the lack of facilities. I think the state park would be the only place that could handle it, but should be able to pretty handily.

I doubt the organizers would consider it either, but it would be fun for a change. Lake CC is alot of lake to fish and much of it never gets touched throughout the year, especially the upper end. My family has a big hunting lease compound on the West side just north of Lagarto creek and I bet we've seen less than 5 bass boats in our big cove in the last 5 years. And its some good looking water too.
