With all of us facing rediculous gas prices and no-one in the government willing (or able) to do anything about it, CABA is wanting to know your tournament fishing plans for the '09 season. All T/D's are facing a huge challenge in '09 (whether they realize it or not) and with it being the time of year to begin work on the '09 schedules, I'm curious. Your thoughts please.

I decided to shorten my reply. I just don't know right now what my plans are. Depends on if gas goes to $5 a gallon anytime soon. That may be a deciding factor for me.

fish in a club all year and then fish a few opens on the side. You know, you would think with fuel prices the way they are that bass clubs would be the first to go. "Cause in most cases, even if you win 1st place, you still lose money!

Media , Tuffman , & a few others here & there. Not going to let gas prices stand in my way if at all possible.
I will most likely be camping @ the lake more often to cut down on driving.

depends on where I end up.
Was told Arkansas is a possibility. If I end up in Arkansas I need to look at some schedules, and figure out what will be closes to me. If I stay here. I would say Champs/ Weekend Series.

I will not be fishing tournaments the next 2 years. I am preparing for a strike here at work, and will also be working on getting out of debt. Then I will be able to afford the pre-fishing and tournaments. If I cant spend the time on the water that needs to be spent, I dont need to fish the tournament.

mrouse, I would think the oposite really. The clubs have lower entries and may try to keep people closer to home which will allow take less fuel for travel. I would think your Lavon and Ray Hubbard tournies may increase if more people get crunched by the gas prices.
Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like the gas terrorists are winning. Come on guys even at an extra $2 a gallon a 200 mile round trip to a tournament is going to cost you and extra $32 in fuel if you get 12 miles to a gallon pulling a boat compared to last year or this year.
Unless I go dead broke (which could happen) I refuse to let them take away something I love.

I plan to keep fishing our club tournaments, all lakes fairly close, waco 26 miles, whitney 33, tradinghouse 33, limestone 55, fairfield 60, belton 70, and stillhouse 75. I may also fish a few poormans events at fairfield and waco.

The trails I will fish must have the following.
1. Enough prize money in the pool so you do well you can turn a profit.
2. No off limits. Its to expensive to make back to back trips when im driving 4-10 hours.
