I recently purchased an older Shimano Bantam 100SG. It is in beautiful condition and works like a charm, especially after I cleaned it. Problem is, I have a left over copper disc about 1/8" in diameter and I'm not sure where it goes. If anyone has the schematics for this model I'd really appreciate it. This is one of the old silver models.

Thanx Redfin, For the life of me, I cannot find that disc in the schematics. I'd really like figure out where this thing goes!

Looks like it is the spacer on the end of the spool? Does the spool tighten down with the end cap by the handle? Did you have part #9 in that schematic? My older Curado has a part like that in the cast control cap part #8.

JOF, Yeah, I have the brass semi square piece they are pointing to as #8, and I have control over the spool speed. The reel seems to be okay, I would feel better if I knew where it came from.

You might try Southwestern Parts/Service on Mockingbird. They use to have schematics online but I don't think it's available to us anymore. Send them an email with the pic and they will probably help you.

They're good folks. Hope they can/will help you.

Is it #60 on the schematic and inserts in #43 ? Just a guess.

Sasquatch, That's where I put it and it didn't seem to have any ill effects on performance so that's where I'm leaving it. Thanx for all the advice guys, can't wait to try this thing out!

Mated this thing up with a medium action rod this morning and tried casting it without the 2 little cast control weights installed. While I had amazing distance I was backlashing every cast. Reinstalled the 2 control weights and lawd, what a difference! All this with a 1/8 oz jig. Even my souped up newer Curados won't outcast this thing, SWEET! Thanks for all the help guys. If you have a chance to pick up one of these old shimano Bantam 100SG reels and it's in reasonably good shape, you won't be sorry. They are easy to work on and are an awesome reel!

If that's not the proper place for it, well then it's safe from being lost.
