I'd never tried flourocarbon before so I put some 14lb CXX on the other night on my favorite baitcaster. Tied a spoon to it and went outside to give it a few practice casts. It quickly turned into a rat's nest that I spent the next 5 minutes fixing.

I tried it again with the same results. I did this for about 45 minutes and never got it to cast without backlashing. The only way to keep it from backlashing was to thumb it to death. I took it off and put mono back on - went back outside and could cast it a mile.

What gives?

Forgot to say that it was a decent weighted spoon, so it's not like I was trying to throw something really light.

It took some time for me to get used to it, i adjusted brakes and tinkered with the reel before i got it right but now it feels the same as mono with the sensitivity of braid.

What brand of Fluoro was it? You really get what you put into it with Fluoro. Also try some of the line conditioners. They can make a world of difference.

I will never go back to fluoro again. Same problem. I know it's the NOW line but if it takes too much to use then I'll stick to braid or mono.

It was the P-Line CXX.

Pline CXX isn't a fluorocarbon line, and it isn't available in 14lb test, so I'm a little confused.

No thank you. I think I made it clear...no fluoro for me again. I don't like the line and I think I am very adpt at casting anything. My preference.

Sorry, but P-line CXX isn't floro. It's a co-polymer.

100% works better once adjusted to your specific needs on your caster. The sensitivity is like no other!

I use BPS Flourocarbon, and don't see much difference in casting it to mono. Use some line conditioner and you should be fine. Sounds like you may have been using CoPoly? Haven't used that before, so I can't speak for it.

I find that the first few casts in the morning can be touchy at times. The KVD line conditioner takes care of that. Fluoro is a good weapon to have in the arsenal. There are many applications where fluoro will put more fish in the boat for me. Fluoro just takes some getting use to.
Seaguar InvisX and Berkley 100% have worked great for me.

Like others above have stated the P-line CXX is not true flourocarbon and is extremely stiff. It will be a nightmare for anyone that is used to using limp mono or braid. If you are going to try to use flourocarbon get a good quality limpest you can find. Seagar InvizX is one of the better on the market. With flourocarbon you can not take the cheap road when buying it as you will get what you pay for. Go to the line wall at BPS to feel and compare the different 100% flourocarbon lines. If after you give it a FAIR try and still a problem for you go to a braid main line with rod length flourocarbon leaders blood knotted to the braid.

seaguar 100% has worked great for me and on the other rods i use floro clear. its floro coated but works great at half the price. even on a top water it works great. does not have the sink rate of 100% but yet it casts like a mono.

the seaguar 100% seems to work perfect and even use it for a weightless fluke and never backlash and still get good distance. Also i dont get the memory in the line like i did with other 100% out there.

Where did you get this extremely stiff from?

I have spooled up 15# and 10# and find it to be a limp line. They advertize it on the box that way too.

It's not a floro at all, it's a copoly.I like it so far.

I still like Gamma better though, but they (BPS) were out at the time and I picked up some CXX.

I'm using the 8# on a spinning rig and it works great.

As mentioned, use 100% fluorocarbon. Night before you fish, I do the same as with any mono. All line of these types will have memory. I hook my lure into my chain link fence and walk about 30 yds. Stretching the line to take kinks out. Only with fluorocarbon try adding KVD spray to it. It will adhere to it. Flurocarbon line afsorbs water. This will take the initial kinks out before you start. When you have made a few cast with 100% fluorocarbon line it will absorb water and become easier to cast. Hope this helped. Try Vicious or Trilene, Gamma Edge if you can afford it. Remember 100%.

I use 14lb. bps fluor. for deep crankin and can cast a dd-22 on 7'-6'' rod a mile no problems.

Ooooh well that splains it! I said I wanted to try fluoro and the guy gave me the CXX, said it was the best. Sheesh.

Will try to get my hands on some Seagur or Berkeley as per suggestions in this thread and give it a go. I'm wanting to try it on my worm rig for weightless senkos and flukes.

Easy there SkeeterHawk, I love P-line lines too. If you like the CXX try the newer Evolution next time you need to buy new line.

Don't feel "pregnant"! I tried that line and had major problems also. Finally went back to Gamma, Seguar, or BPS. They work better.
