unless you can follow someone, don't. if you do, make sure you have good boat insurance. fiberglass and lower units are pricey.

L. Palestine's nickname is "The Dead Sea" at least lately
for sandies & hybrids. It is a great catfish lake.

I would love to learn the North end, but I don't have the guts to go it alone.

What part? There is an east/west and north/south pipe line you can run, but is very difficult to follow now. There is a highline trail thats a little easier to follow. Being, I assume, green to the area, I would idle most everywhere I went, I would now myself. Kickapoo has a ramp for access to that area. If you go up the Neches arm I would idle. I've seen people run it, but thats some serious thrill seeking. I quit goin up there along time ago, but do remember when all the standing timber had leaves still on them. Boy those were the days.

Run the far right side coming up the lake from The Villages. Swing out around the point on the right right before you enter the timber. Stay within 25yds of the docks on the right. When you come to the campground on the right. This is a pipeline, turn left, and you can take it to just North of Old Folks. And motor slowly back South around the Point to get into Old Folks. If you are going on up to Kickapoo. Pass the Campground on up to the Powerline, turn left, and run it to the Island. Motor slowly around the Island to the right. Re-Enter the Powerline and run it to the W. bank around timber to the road bed. Road bed along the highway is shallow. Easiest way to get here as mentioned is a public ramp right on the old roadbed right off the highway, between Chandler and Flat Creek Ramp. I wouldn't leave any valueables in my vehicle here. Knock on wood, never been broken into, but a rough looking area. Good Luck. PM me if I can help anymore.

Im fishing Palestine for the first time next week. Where is the best place to put in to fish South? Im assuiming south is the safest by what I have read. Is there any vegitation on the lake? Pads/moss/etc? The boat is big enought and has enough horse power to get where I need to-but I dont want to put it in the shop for the rest of the summer either! smile Thanks for any help!!

Seasonalsportsman, You can go to Lake Palestine Resort right off 155 past the 3rd bridge (South of Coffee City) and fish all day without going back under the bridge or you can run to the dam from there as well, Also, from before the 1st bridge you can take a small oil top road (east off 155) and there is a small public ramp there to access that end of the lake, or you could go to Berryville and make a left there (East again) and follow that road a good ways to access the ramp by the dam. Most of the areas are pretty open on the South end of the lake and the cove by the Resort has a northern part of the lake feel to it with lots of stumps and some good shallow water. Hope you have a good time bring lots of crank's and don't give up on topwater til around 9:00am or so.

Hey Catfishsalsa, it is very difficult to tell you how to run the north end of Lake Palestine, right now it is much easier to tell you to use the Kickapoo ramp if you are going to fish there and of course you could use the cades lake ramp to fish there and if you want to go up the neches use the Westberry ramp for that area. There are lots and lots of stumps out there and even with good GPS trails it is spooky running the area. I wish you the best of luck...

Trump903, best way to learn to run the lake is to go there during a tourney and follow the crowd, please don't try to take thier spots but that is the easiest way to learn to run the lake just make sure you stay in the middle of the wake...

PS.. There is a Monday night tourney that goes out of the villages from 6:00pm til 9:00pm, I'm sure there will be several going to the north end

it helped me to put in at kickapoo and learn how to get out instead of get in. but weekender knows better than most about how to do work around the stumps up there.

Big Red 12 hit it on the head, just be careful, lots of stumps up there. I rarely get north of Henderson Point and the Villages. As for as the Dead Sea, Caught 60 Sandies Saturday, 2 weekends prior caught 120 sandie/hybrids and the week before that same. Lots of Mags in the mix. Not very many boats except for the 4th.

I'm stuck in Tyler for the next several days and have afternoons to fish.

Anyone up for it. I have my boat with me if we need it.. thumb

I prefer fishing with someone who knows the lake...
