Why is it everything has to be political? The moderators asked (kindly I might add) to slack up a bit on the costant bashing. Even some moderators are continuing to make snide remarks. Damn yall give it a rest.

I like the part about ruining the economy...as if spending MORE money on a product is somehow hurting the economic status of the nation. Just doesn't make any sense. Probably, the guy was having a bad day, week, month, life, etc. Overly cranky people are usually really sad individuals that I get a kick out of laughing at (mean, maybe, but fun).

Damn Yankee for sure. It makes me madder than a frog on a freeway that we let them carpetbaggers into Our Great State.
I would've shot out his windshield just on general principles.

I bet the guy isn't the man of his own house. His wife tells him how to live and so he must pass on all her wisdom. Pure and simple little man syndrome. I like the way you handled it. His wife probably won't let him have a diesel.

Smug people. They always know how you should live your life so much better than you do. My goodness...how much more of a Superhero can one be than to actually brag that your mission is to save a friggin planet from evil doers?
These are little minded people who were picked on in gym class so they get back at the world by starting idiotic movement after movement. Saving a planet. Give me a break. Get on a plane, fly to 32,000 feet, look down and realize you ain't chit.
The planet has it's own course and your greenie ideas are futile. One volcano and all man's efforts are for naught. One season of fires and California's expenditures for carbon reduction is lost. Oceans warming? Tsunamis and hurricanes take care of that. Atmosphere warming? Cloud cover reduces the sunlight reaching the earth and the rain cools it. Dang first rate climate control system we already got here.
The ones leading the march are rich beyond your wildest dreams and getting richer off of the movement...as with all collectivist leaders the top gets rich on the regulations placed on the bottom.
The sad fact is.....most of them have way too much free time on their hands.

After reading thru this thread, I see one thing missing. I don't recall seeing any public fueling facility that hasn't posted a sign saying SHUT OFF ENGINES. There's no exclusion for diesels.
I did see one post that equates 5 minutes of idling to restarting the engine. True/False, I don't know. Assuming it's true, there's no way you can pump enough fuel in 5 minutes or less to fill the truck.
My $.02 worth - Shut it off.

My $.02 worth - Shut it off. When is the last time that you pumped diesel? It's been a few years ago for me, but from what I remember, the flow rate for the diesel pumps are about double the flow rate for the gas pumps. Should be able to fill a diesel pickup within 5 mins easily. I have gas engines in my vehicles now and I normally leave the engine running while pumping.

I'll be the first to admit I don't have a clue about gas or diesel flow rates BUT you can't tell me that you can go through the process of pulling in, swiping a card, filling the tank (assuming it's 3/4s empty or more) , and finish up to drive away in less than 5 minutes. I believe he mentioned having to swipe his card a 2nd time which adds to the overall time.
Plus your going to ignore the safety warnings to boot. Might as well go ahead and light up the cigarettes and the left over fireworks.
I don't want somebody's exhaust blowing right where I'm standing when I refuel my vehicle. I have to watch out for diesels idling when my wife is with me, gas stations or traffic stops. The fumes can/have triggered her asthma attacks. Ask anyone with asthma how much fun that can be.

Well I have an issue with being on time...Therefore I'm a bit neurotic about knowing how long things take so I can be somewhere on time...Being late in my opinion shows a lack of respect for the person you are meeting...I was late meeting Baylor_Guy, through no fault of my own (the delivery I was picking up was over an hour and 40 minutes late in being ready for pick up), and I felt like dirt.... Now since I am such a pain I know it takes 1 minute for 7 gallons of gas to flow from the nozzle to my tank...My Saturn holds 12.8 gallons when empty, so it takes less than 2 minutes to fill it up...Another minute for the card slide and cap removal and replacement...If it takes longer than 1 minute to get 7 gallons of fuel, go elsewhere you're sucking up the remains from the bottom of the tank....

I guess that Rick really made you mad when he made fun of your little car when you two were at the gas pumps, huh?
