Planning my first trip to fairfield. I enjoy flyfishing from a kayak. Can someone tell me about the camp ground (tent camping, shower house, safety). Since I will not be able to make the trip but once or twice a year, would someone make some suggestions as to where to fish from the campground. I would hate using the weekend to try to get oriented to the lake. Thanks for your help.

WE were camping last weekend we like sites 69,80-89, have bath houses, and plenty of wildlife for the kidos. Tha bank off the tent camping area has been a good area for bream fishing, but last trip it was hard to get a worm down for the rat reds. The point at the swimming area has been good for bream and early morning Red fish. Also the point at site 69 is a good early morning bite for Reds(before daylight). Water is around 100deg.not too comfortable for swimming.Can't carry my toon back till they catch some water had to float my toon over rocks draging bottom. Safety has never been a problem at the lake they have great Park staff around. God times and great fishing.

I was out yesterday and you can still launch with care. Reds are doing well. I did not get any bream.

Could many redfish and larger bluegills be seeking cooler water these days in the depths? It must be at least slightly cooler at 12 feet than at 12 inches, right?

Anyone ever fly fish this lake with much success?

Caught large Reds in 3' of water over the weekend.

No such thing as "cooler water" on Fairfield!

We catch gills in shallow water from April till September regardless of water temp. I think they are simply used to the high temps.
