Bassraider47 I appreciate the thread. I am currently looking for another boat. Owned two different Champions and want to hear what others say about the other brands. I like the layout of the Triton but folks are telling me the boat has a chine walking problem. Skeeter's have a good layout but I still remember the skeeter issues of the 90's. Road in some Rangers and my kidneys shut down everytime I mention the name. But I haven't road a new one and I like the name.
They are all Best boats just interested in the pro's and cons. What issues did the 90's model Skeeters have?

No Stratos' mentioned. Really like the storage room and layout of mine. Dont have an engine on it yet, so I dont know how it handles.

What about a ProGator?? 10 year stump warranty, Guaranteed you can't put a hole in it or sink it. Even with the drain plug out. They have been building them as long & longer than most of the brands you guys have been mentioning. They have the best hull construction of any. Also, they are just as dry as any Ranger. They don't have any dealers in Texas but if you have any problems out of a gator, all you have to do is call Leroy at ProGator Manufacturing and it will be taken care of.

I love my 20DC Bullet with comp hull. It is super light, uses less fuel than any of my partners boats, trailers great(can hardly tell it is behind the truck) has deeper livewells than any boat I have seen(no problem losing fish), handles rough water nicely, low profile in the water means less surface for the wind to push it around, and it is fast. I just bought my second Bullet, and I already know that my next boat will also be a Bullet.

This is the old Ford, Chevy, Dodge argument. I have owned more than my share of boats and I would agree with most of the comments here.
Basscats are great boats but they are too hardheaded to build a big boat. Rangers are the best known and will have the best resale. They do not have the greatest ride. The older narrow body Champions are the best riding boats on the water but have a bad list while fishing two or three guys off the same side. Tritons are the best compromise IMO for fishability & performance. They resale well too. I have sold three of them in the last few years.
Legends look nice and are probably finished out better than any. Express if you want the best aluminum boat.
I have just ordered my 7th Bullet because I like the performance aspect of the boat and am willing to overlook the few shortcomings. As for the guys that "think" the 21XRD Bullets ride rough, they have never been in one with somebody that knows how to drive one... But that is a whole other topic.
The best advice of all; Buy a pre-owned one with warranty and let someone else take the 25% depreciation of the first year.
PM me if you want to ride in a new Express, Legend or Bullet and I will set it up for you with the dealer at Fork.
Ken

Are we here again? Everyone should know by now that mine is best. Seriously, the best boat is the one that fits your needs and the one that you like. Most of the name brand boats are good boats these days. Some ride better than others, some fish better than others, some are faster. The best way to know is to go out and lake test different ones. I own a 2001 Ranger 520VX and I will tell you it is not the best riding bass boat out there. Don't get me wrong it has a good dry ride, but it's not the the best there is. Fishes good, but does have a slight roll when your partner walks from side to side in the back. Skeeter has much better stability when fishing due to the sponsons on the back, almost no roll while fishing. They have a nice dry ride too. Now, the boats I am talking about are 20' and 21'.

look anyone can claim to know the best bass boat the best boat is the one that does best for you think of it like your significant other on first impression it looks the right one but if you get it home and it sits what good is it if it doesnt embarass you takin it out in public then proceed then the big day comes its time to test er out if it cranks and it puts a smile on your face its time to fish if everything is where you like it and what ever room you need is availible and your comfortable with all that floats you thats the boat for you and heck if it catches fish youde better keep er around

i have no complaints about my nitro 929. it takes rough water great and feels like a battleship in the wind. yeah its a little slow...... but i think i spend more time fishing than boat racing. ledgends look really cool i think but i dont know anything about the preformance. you need to spend time in different boats and get a feel for what suits you the best.

I really like my Gambler. And i'm pretty sure i could fit a 9 ft rod if need be in my rod box. Plus, they by far have the best fishing platform of any bass boat. they also have very good resale value. But if not Gambler, go with Skeeter.

Don't believe anyone but me, Champion's #1 with with the Yamaha HPDI on the back. If you have one, everyone else will have "boat envy". Best built with the best ride. Made buy the same people who make ranger(small cap on purpose), except cheaper for now. Shop around, prices should be falling.

actually the champion company is owned by the same people that owner ranger.. GENMAR. and they are a seperate company. And genmar has put the "champion" company up for sale again. (that's what i heard).
they are a good boat, but being the best built. NOPE!
that title is owned by Allison. they have more man hours into one boat build than any company out there.
my advice, just get the boat that appeals to YOU, and fits you well! most company's do a good job nowadays.

Ranger. Its the smothest riding bass boat on the water. The boats have things to keep you more organized and give you more storage space. Plus the were the first with an areated livewell so the have more time to make it the best. Smooth? Ranger and the word Smooth don't go together at all. Hey, my Ranger is smooth, I just waxed it. OH, and my boat is best.

okay, okay...I'll say it..lol
give me 2 or 3 foot rollers and a 21XRD Bullet with 300XS and i'll smoke all of ya!!! and never get one drop of water on me.
don't believe me, make an appointment and pay the gas, and i'll show ya!! now, that said, the Bullet DOES NOT fish as good as a ranger or triton, because they are a bit lighter and the wind will blow them around a bit more.
next choice is a BassCat, or Legend. Very good boats too.
JMHO!! I guarantee if I go with ya you will get wet cause I will bring a cup of ice water.
