Alan Henry sucked again, went July 3, fished all day, did not catch anything. Did see some bass chasing shad south of the dam, threw everything I had at them, they kept moving out ahead of us. Then the jet skis and Miami Vice boats showed up. Will not be going again until later this year, it was way to hot this time.

I went out fishing last night. I caught about 7 with the biggest about 4.5 and my friend caught about 3. Only fished one spot most of the night with one bait.

I have never tried Alan Henry at night, was it crowded when you arrived?

Had a decent top water morning today but it turned of as sun as the sun got up. And when the wind started the bite and schooling was none existent. Had one on C Rig around 11 and that was it. Had a skier go down in front of me in the boat lane in front of little grape and I had to dodge the ski boat when they did a 180 at full speed and sent a wake up so high that I went 4 to 5 feet out of the water. I was swinging wide right and the wake still got me. Busted my passenger side window frame and pulled the center hinged window in my fish and ski.

topwater was good for me early morning and real late afternoon. most of my fish came out of 30 ft. of water. the fish seem to be chasing tiny shad. i tried everything i had in the boat to catch schoolies, and the only thing that seemed to work was a tiny white bomber.

It took me around 40 minutes to get my boat on the water, due to all the boats coming off. Thats was around 6:30pm. The bite was on, but as Molossuri stated, most pleasure boats have no respect. Pleasure boat constantly came within 40 to 25 yards and swamped my boat with big waves. Then they waved as they passed, not having a clue to their ignorance. Once pleasure boats were off the water, the evening was great.

Fishing on AH is hit and miss right now. Topwater action is picking up and if you can find the deep fish that will bite, you'll have a good day. Went yesterday and there were more boats than I have ever seen on the lake I think and 96.8% of them were ski boats. I think it had to be the traffic becuase I found the fish but they didn't want to eat like they have been. Skirted the jungle of ski boats to get to my good hole and there is a boat anchored in the middle with kids jumping out swimming! Fish never showed back up after that.

I don't have that many but it has taken me four years of fishing to get the handful that I have. I learn something everytime that I go.

It is tough and just because you have the spot doesn't mean that you can catch them. I sat on a ledge in 20 foot of water marking fish like crazy Saturday evening and couldn't get them to bite anything in the boat. It was just one of those days.

You have to learn to fish deep with finesse to have consistent success at AH.
