I agree with you to a point, but they didn't have to try and kill it all. Just control it a little.

Land owners are going to make another Martin Creek out of it. Naw, that couldn't possibly happen to Lake Tyler. That only happens to other lakes. Besides, all those fish are still in Martin Creek...you just have to look harder to find them! Sure, most of the tournaments left, and the state park isn't nearly as busy as it used to be. And sure, you used to not even think about getting a check out there unless you had 18-22 pounds, whereas now 13-15 pounds will get you a check and 18 pounds will almost surely win...but what does that prove? We just all need to look harder. And by all means, that is what I like to do when I go fishing. LOOK for fish. Most guys have this idiotic notion that CATCHING fish is what it's all about...but they obviously haven't been enlightened. You know, when the TP&WD rep who came to our meeting used that line to describe Lake Tyler after all the grass was killed..."The fish are still there. Sure, you may have to look for them a little harder to find them"...it was like a light bulb was suddenly turned on inside my head. I realized how short sighted it was to think it was better to be able to pull up to a grass bed, throw a Yellow Magic or a fluke into the middle of it, and immediately catch a fish or two than to travel around the lake for hours on end "looking". And if it wasn't for the danged inconveniences that get in the way...you know, stuff like a wife and a job...I would have even more time to look!

i really dont think they knew what they were doing to the grass when they sprayed it. tpwd has said many times that it was numerous thing that made the grass go away, with spraying it being about 75% to blame.

Well, I am not please with the grass situation at lake Tyler and am also not pleased with the way it was handled. First, I didn't get to vote on whether or not to kill the grass but I am on the list of people buying water from the City of Tyler that was nominated to pay for it. Great, Something else that I didn't want but have to pay for. These people act like they are my Kids........... I am still wondering who's grand Scheme this was and how they got it accomplished cause there are several things that need to be done out there that would be better for all but those things never get accomplished. I think some of the right people are on the wrong side....

Guys we all have to understand that the people who vote on this stuff, and are incharge of it DONT FISH!!! We are in our own little world on here. People who just fish a tiny bit are glad all the "moss" is gone. Jet skiers, and pleasure boats are what dominate the voting, but I garuntee you that if we decide to voice as one about all this, we could make a difference. Bass fishing has a huge economic impact in this city, therefore we need to make our voices heard

Madangler I remember talking to you. I keep going back and fishing the brushpiles and hump. I just don't seem to have the magic touch. I will keep on trying and keep on finding new areas to fish. Thanks for the encouragement.

SFAbassguy the hump and brushpile are in the East Lake. It's like being with the little neighbor girl when I was younger: You show me your spots and I'll show you mine.

Hey ya'll; Went to Lake Tyler East this morning. I was kinda pumped up after reading some of your posts last night. Only good things to happen were that I found the road bed and I found a point. Not a lot of structure in that lake as you guys have already started. No luck if catching any fish. But I did lose the cover and half of the innards of my pflueger bait casting reel that my father gave me in the lake, my motor started acting up on me and I mashed my thumb; A day to remember.
I used to fish a lot with my dad. He would tell me what to do and where to fish. I know that he had a lot of knowledge because he always caught fish. Sad part is he never really taught me anything. Last year he gave me his old bass boat and encouraged me to use it fishing. After a few months of redoing the trailer and the inside of the boat I hit the lake. I have not been very successful just a couple of 1 pound bass out of the grass on Lake Tyler West (LTW). I need help. Where should I be fishing this time of year? What lures should I be using? Any help would be appreciated.

I really dont think you can go wrong on Lake Tyler just pithing jigs under docks. Id try to find some docks with alot of baitfish around them. This time of year docks get good, and alot of people make the mistake of just trying to find brush...but if you can find the docks with baitfish circling the post, flip em, and crank them suckers! If you find the bait, you'll find the bass.

flukes under docks are good in the mornings, after about 10am i am stumped. night fishing has been pretty good lately, you might give that a try. this time of year i take my beatings in hope of a great fall.

Thanks for the suggestions. Dad never fished with jigs. can you describe one (I guess I could go to Bass Pro shop website and find them?) and explain how to fish one? We fished a bunch of docks with H&H spinner and top water lures on Tyler East to no avail. Is a fluke and a jig the same thing?
Sorry guys this is all very new to me. I really appreciate you guys helping out.
