Top-waters and Frogs early around Dr's boat ramp area...
then flip pads/ weeds and crank the timber edges.

We used to catch a lot of fish on the Duck Weed mats fishing a Weightless Fluke.
Haven't been in a few years.

Bazz fish

Go back around any of the islands and throw frogs over flooded grass and willow bushes and then pitch baby brush hogs TX/rig at the edge of flooded grass and spinner baits are good also along the edge. Crank Baits in the boat lanes are good with shad pattern deep divers. Good Luck and lets us know how you do.

I don't know for sure but one thing might be the lake you were fishing. Cooper had a great reputation when it first opened but it really got pounded hard when it was new. A lot of guides from Fork were even fishing it a lot. I think there were a few years where the water really fluctuated real high and low and for some reason the lake pretty much died. I haven't been there in years but haven't heard any good news about the lake or it coming back.

Cooper's great reputation was well deserved. I caught a 10.75 there on May 4, 2000...still my biggest bass. That fish was the third ten pounder I saw caught within a span of about 15 minutes, with one guy in another boat catching two on back-to-back casts.

I caught a seven pounder and a 5-3/4 within the first two hours the first time I ever fished Cooper, when I didn't know a thing about the lake.

The heaviest sack in Media history, 38-something, was caught at Cooper, I think within a week or two of when I caught my big fish in 2000.

Back then, I would drive right past Fork every day of the week and twice on Sundays to fish Cooper. Then, the lake level got extremely low and the water quality dropped off. I think a lot of the grass in the lake died off, too.

I have stayed at the South Sulphur unit several times, and it had the best facilities of any state park I have used. Unfortunately, when the water level got so low they basically had to close the park. It was a disgrace that so much taxpayer money was spent on the parks up there, only to see them shut down because the City of Irving, or whoever it was, pretty much pumped the lake dry. And, it was a shame that a lake that was on its way to being the best bass lake in Texas was ruined in the process.

Isn't this about to happen to Fork when the pump station is complete?

Could be,pumping stars in December. The city of Dallas is a water hog, last drought all the surrounding communities were on rationg anD Dallas was not. They also sell water to quite a few cities.

I am wondering, at the ramps that say fee required ,does the annual pass work there or not?

yes your annual park pass will work there and there are some bass in the lake...Flip the flooded willows or you might try the hydrilla

Irving does pump water but the main reason for the drought was the extreme lack of rain. Worst drought in 50 years or more. On a normal rain fall year the lake will stay pretty close to full pool.
