hey guys, i am moving to longview this next month and i am looking for some places to do some bass fishing. I know about lake o the pines, caddo, bob sandlin, cypress springs, but i am trying to find some smaller lakes or ponds closer to the longview area. I have heard about martin creek, how is that? i have a 9ft pond hopper type boat so that is why i favor a smaller body of water. i would appreciate any info

You might check out Lake gilmer, Gladewater, or Brady Branch. If you are up for a drive lake quitman, winnsboro,Hawkins, Tyler state park, and Dangerfield state park are all great places for a bass buster. Enjoy Longview Some of my best memories came from there!

Tyler and Cypress Springs would rock out of a small boat!

Fished Cherokee last night. It was rather tough...had to beg for a few fish!
It's a private lake, lot's of boat traffic this weekend!

The only way you are going to be able to fish Cherokee is to buy property there or fish with someone who has property there.
Martin Creek is a Hot water lake and the bite usually slows waaaaaay down this time of year. There are tons of good lakes in east tx. Murval, Perky (one of these 2 is a power plant lake too), Lake O the Pines, Caddo, Tyler, Lake Palestine, Gladewater, lake nacogdoches, sam rayburn, etc....there are more but those are just the ones I can think of at the moment.

Gladewater has very little bass left from what I've heard. There are some decent crappie in there though.

Is it Brandy Branch or Brady Branch? I have never fished there before.
