I've always free shrimped with a #8 or #10 treble hook mainly around the Texas City Dike area. Is this still the preferred method aside from artificals? Thanks in advance...

I've been using #8 or #10 3x with Seaguard finish for years. Tried other shapes for shrimp and never found anything better.

Thanks! I was just looking to see if anything new out there is doing better.

I used to use nothing but treble hooks until I tried circle hooks. Once I learned how to use them, I hook everything by the lip. I love them and they save alot of undersize fish that swallow treble hooks.

What size circle hooks do you use for live shrimp? Always the same size hook or different sizes for different size shrimp?

And exactly "How do you use them"? I'd really like to be able to throw the under sized ones back with minimal damage.

I quit using treble hooks years ago because of the damage they do to fish. I (mainly) quit using shrimp around the same time because I was catching too many trash fish and they cost too much. I toss a cast net for whatever I can get or fish around peers with an ultra light and catch pin perch for bait. I use a croaker hook or circle hook. I hook my baits through their tails.
