I hope all had a good time this 4th of july on the lake. Wow there were a lot of boats in the usual places. My family and I love to fish and don't mind sharing a "hot" spot, but please folks if you are new to boating or fishing please learn a little self controll and we all will caught fish.
1st on my list is YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR BOAT WAKE!
If folks are fishing in an area, go around slowly, as not to spook the fish and not to dump folks in the lake because of your wake..or go around the people fishing, its a big lake and the is pleanty of room.
2. If you don't have a trolling motor but a big ski boat, don't drive to the middle of the school of fish, this divides the bait thus making the fish less bountiful as the skatter too. SLOW DOWN, get with in casting distance and throw your lure into the school of fish, this will help keep the fish in the area and many people can fish the area and we all can catch fish!!
3rd Respect your fishing buddies, if they were there 1st, don't cut them off by coming so close they can no longer cast, or move your boat in to the center of the school, this keeps many others from catching fish...and if the other guy found the fish 1st respect that..move down a little and you will catch fish too and for a longer period.

People please be aware your boat doesn't have brakes! You are responsible for your wake and any problems it causes, and if you don't have a trolling motor for pete sake don't run up the middle of schooling fish, stay behind the school you will catch fish and so will your other fishing buddies, for a longer period to, as the fish will hang around if not scattered
by thoughtless and unknowledgeable folks. We are all out to have a good time. Don't be a bully, you ruin it for your self and others who do follow the rules and respect others. Be aware. People lets all be safe courteous and we all will catch fish.

also, don't ride your 4 wheel vehilces in the lake water, this is very polluting and against lake rules...marina's you need to keep an eye on your guest and make sure they know the rules! It's a beautiful lake lets all respect it and take care of it! And your kids and theirs will be able to enjoy it too!

Hey Guys,
I know this happens all over....it's just a pain and if folks would just THINK and use courtesy as a guide...it would be so much more fun for everyone....I do try to afford the weekend clod hoppers as much as possible...be dang me and the kids or husband just like getting out on the lake...I guess it's just a dream that people be respectful of others.
I do want to thank ALL the good folks on the lake that are true fishermen! Teach a buddy, raise a good fisher person, keep on being true to a sport we (I) love! You make it a joy to fish!

As much as I wish your post would help, I just don't see it happening. Lately I've noticed that it seems like the LMB fishermen are as bad or worse than any of the other boaters. They will go blowing by you with their big motors running full bore and just look at you like your in their way. bang I've been waked by more than I can count.
If I ever come up on one that's done that to me I'll be sure to return the favor.

Yep, this happens to me alot, too. However, I don't mind a bass boat flying by, because they go by you fast and leave very little wake. But ski boats, on the other hand, plow through the water and create huge wakes. I just can't understand why people drive so close to other boats. If anything, it's a safety issue, nevermind the fishing. But alas, some things will never change, because some of those road ragin drivers on the highway own boats, too.

we can always hope my fishing buddies....I am an optimist and a postive thinker...most of the time...but alas reality does sneak in and bite you in the [censored], sometimes! wish there was a cure for DUMB Thoughtlessness! But if we all keep preaching and teaching maybe it will TEACH AND REACH some of many clod hoppers that have there heads up there !!!! You get my dift, heeehee,

All great info but, unfortunately, your kinda "preaching to the choir". Folks on this forum know how to be courteous and display good sportsmanship. The trouble-makers don't spend much time on the lake, not to mention a Fishing Forum. So, thanks for posting, maybe someone will get some good from it. Or you can use my technique: If the lake is within 90 miles of Dallas ONLY fish it during the week in the summer and NEVER on a summer holiday weekend. bannana2

well your probably right about preaching to the choir....I never really thought of it like that per say. My hope is that I will catch one newbie, that wants to learn the ropes, and really has never had a lot of experince boating....Like I said if I can turn one person around it's worth it...as they in turn help some one else see the light! What do you all think about boating classes? Just a thought...Thanks for enlightening me to your thoughts.
