It's almost time for our next TXSBHA Tournament. It will be held July 12th at Meadowmeare ramp on Grapevine Lake. The tournament will begin at safe light and weigh in will be at 11:00 AM this time due to high traffic and hot temperatures. The lake has been great on topwater and slabbing the past few weeks. Bring the family or a fishing buddy out to have a good time. Looking forward to seeing some of the local guys that fish Grapevine. If you have questions PM or email me.

I will add more sponsors as I get confirmation.

There will be no fish fry following this tournament.

Official TXSBHA Tournament Rules

The following rules apply to all and any participants of any sandbass tournament(s) that are sponsored, operated, or directed by the Texas Sandbass and Hybrid Association, hereafter referred to as TXSBHA. By entering the tournament, participants release without exception TXSBHA, its officers, sponsors, and affiliates, from liability resulting from loss, theft, injury, or death.

Contestants are required to complete and sign a release of liability form before paying entry fees.

1. The below stated rules apply to all of the participants of any TXSBHA sandbass tournament (s). Violation of any of these rules will warrant appropriate disciplinary action by the tournament director (s). Any protest (s) must be received in writing within fifteen minutes of the final weigh-in. The tournament director (s) decisions will be final in all matters pertaining to the tournament results.

2. All applicable state, federal, local-park, fishing, boating, and general laws must be obeyed.

3. Tournament entry fees are $35.00 per team unless otherwise stated by TXSBHA prior to tournament registration. Members will pay 25.00 entry fee to all tourneys. Teams are to be made up of two people. Family teams of up to four immediate relatives will be allowed. All people in a team boat must be registered contestants. Big fish entry fees will be 5.00. See number 11 for scoring specifications. Pay out is 100% for sandbass aggregate, payed out at 60/25/15% to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively. Payout for big fish is 100%. If there are more than three children ages 12 and under that are participating with a paid team. They may enter (free of charge)a big fish (sandbass, hybrid, or striper) and receive a prize that will be determined at each tournament if his or her fish is the heaviest entry.

4. Firearms are not allowed in tournament boats during tournament hours or carried during registration or weigh-in.

5. Alcohol and narcotics will not be allowed in the possession of contestants during tournament hours, with the exception of prescription medicine. Alcoholic beverages are permitted fifteen minutes after the check-in deadline (unless prohibited by the host marina or park).

6. Courtesy, safe boating, sportsmanship, and conservation must be displayed at all times by contestants. Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of the violators team.

7. A U.S. Coast Guard approved chest type PFD must be on and fastened anytime the combustion engine is running (on all people in the boat). All boats must meet U.S. Coast Guard standards. All boats must have an emergency kill-switch that must be attached to the driver during operation of the combustion engine.

8. TXSBHA sandbass tournaments contestants are allowed to use any (legal) bait of their choice, including live bait and trolling. All fish must be caught on rod and reel and in a sporting manner during tournament hours and from current tournament waters. Contestants are responsible for insuring that the bait they are using does not violate any federal, state or park laws.

9. Contestants may not use communication devices for the purpose of locating fish or assisting other teams. Hole-sitting by or for entrants is not allowed.

10. Pre-fishing is allowed until 6pm the night before a tournament. Boat stalls, slips, or beaching of boats is allowed on the night before a tournament, however, all boats are subject to but not required to being inspected before release the morning of the tournament. All entrants must check in at the registration/launch site before fishing the tournament.

11. Scoring will be determined by the total weight of 10 sandbass per team. Combining the two cash awards and splitting the total between the tied teams will settle ties for cash prizes. Big fish, may include anyone of the following if found in the tournament lake, sandbass, hybrid-striped bass, or striper. Big fish may be part of the 10 fish aggregate but must be tagged before aggregate weigh-in.

12. No fishing is allowed within 25 yards of another tournament boat without mutual consent. No fishing is allowed within 25 yards of any man made structure of the hosting marina.

13. Entry fees will be accepted in cash only the day of the tournament. The tournament staff is usually there 1 hour before the boat release (safe light).

14. Boats will take-off in an orderly fashion at "safe light," as determined by the tournament director. If entries exceed 50 boats weigh-In will be staggered in flights according to the number of teams competing - intervals usually begin at noon.

15. Penalties: There will be a 1 pound penalty deducted (from the total weight of legal fish) for every fish not meeting the legal size limit (the illegal fish is not counted towards the total weight). Fish will be measured on a "Golden Rule" measuring board with the tail closed. There will be 1 pound deducted from the contestant’s total weight for every minute the contestant is late for weigh-in. The weigh-in line will closed 15 minutes after the designated check-in time.

17. The TXSBHA and its tournament directors reserve the right to refuse entry to any person for any reason. Inclement weather decisions will be made by the tournament sponsor.

18. Contestants are responsible for knowing and understanding these rules .....

humm, sandie tournament sounds fun long as I can take both sons with me. Long as weather is good, I think I will do that. Need to check with the Mrs to make sure we don't have anything that morning. On the bright side, it would be a good excuse to get out this week and fish more to get ready for it smile

Team "Slow Poke" will be there. Oldrock you have a good chance since XYZ is not pre-fishing this week. I have a Sub this time around since the wife can't make it. My daughter is ready, she caught 50+ last week. That helped her confidence, plus she wants to break the Junior Angler State Record for Grapevine too.

not too worried about the heat since that is the reality of texas summers. Also not too worried about trying to win since i am sure the guys who guide will be bringing in serious stringers. I just think it would be fun to meet some of the other regulars on the forum. Grapevine is very close for us so might as well join in the fun. That is if the weather cooperates. Winds have sure been blowing alot lately and looks like more strong winds today frown

Well folks remember there are three places to give out and since Lance ran the last one I will run this one so he can fish. I will also be familiarizing myself with some new electronics on my boat.

The Gou has stepped into the modern age and is now sporting a Lowrance LMS 520C.

I really hope to see all of the Grapevine Gang there.

Bama where is you? Brother Terry could also join in as well.

I'll give everyone the first digit for free. thumb

I think the first digit is 1.

Just kidding. If I have some time, maybe I'll grab my GPS and extract a bunch of coords and post them on Friday. That way it could be useful in a last ditch effort situation. Which, most of the locations I know, are always last ditch effort. rolfmao
