Still being new to Texas, this Alabama transplant tried to fish LL on Friday, but is was an absolute zoo. The waves made the surge from Katrina look mild, and as usual...the dummies were out in force. Yesterday in an effort to escape the yuppie wakeboard crowd I decided to head up to Ray Roberts for the first time.

The fishing was slow and inconsistent (probably more due to my lack of skill, than the presence of fish); but we did pull up a couple of nice ones in the backs of the creeks and up on the shallow flats later in the day. The Sandies were abundant; as were the Gar....

All in all a great day on a beautiful lake....which I look forward to getting back to.

W

Welcome to Texas and the Texas Fishing Forum........

Ray Roberts is a great lake as far as what you witnessed at Lewisville that's about the norm out there on any given weekend. It's a good lake you just have to put up with all the big boats, skiers, and jet fleas. At Ray Roberts on the north end they usually wont venture too far into the timber.

I've been told that if you could find then there are some big fish in RR.

War Eagle! It took me a while to get used to the shallow mud holes of Texas as well. Being an Auburn guy I'm sure you will have it figured out in no time.
