Took a trip down to Choke Canyon on Saturday hoping to fill freezer with catfish filets. Hoping was what we mostly did.
Fished 7:00 - 1:00 and ended up with 7 keepers. Pitiful day for Choke. We caught probally 50+ fish, but it took 10 dinks to get one over 15". I have never seem so many small fish. We tried shallow, deep, grass, rocks at several diffent spots. Most fish were caught in 40'-60' of water suspended in 15'-20' of water. The normal pattern of fishing off the bottom at the river channel edge did not produce. Top baits were DK/Blood with Tortias (flour) a close second (Yep, wifes secret bait). Big Marv's, shrimp, and cut perch only caught a few. For the DK skeptics, my batch worked good. At 1:00 a storm rolled in and everyone hauled &*$% to the ramp. Few people at the cleaning station so I think the bite was off. One guy had a few off jugs caught at the North Shore end.
Lots of gas $ spent for a skinny trip. Till next time.
