My 96 150 Merc has a warning beeper going off continious beeping sound as soon as the motor starts. I thought it was the water pump but after replacing it the beeper is still going off. I discovered if I disconnect a brown wire located on the botton of a white Quicksilver canister type filter located on the left front side of the engine below the oil resevior(Fuel Filter?) the beeper goes off. Is my oiler out? water in the fuel? If it is the oiler about what will that run? If its water in the fuel how do I drain it, there is no petcock that I can see. Any help would be great.

Water in fuel.

Get a long hose, and try not to swallow any getting it started.

Just remove the filter just like you would a oil filter and dumb the fuel properly not in the lake and should be fine. These days water will show up more than it use to because of the ethynol in fuel.Run it and if it shows up again probably will have to drain the tank also add some mercury dri/fuel in the tank to absorb any water that might be left in tank....OPTI
