Are you fishing to catch fish or fishing to win? The spook is usually a bigger fish bait.

Don't rule out a crankbait like an RC 1.5 or 2.5.

As the day progresses, move out and hit areas with a jig and/or a c-rig. I do not know a grapevine color so go with your confidence colors.

I would go with a topwater(popper) and then a crank of some kind . We were out there today and whacked em, they were all solid 2-3# fish too.

ok, so i went w/ the booyah double buzz(white) and caught fish after fish blowing up the top water and every $#$#@ one of them were slots, they were coming out of the water when striking and hitting as soon as it hit the water, very few hit it after a few yards of reeling. the first fish was a good 4 lbs,fat belly and 17.5" it popped my reel of my rod and ran it up to the 1st eyelet, never had that happen before. i made sure it was on tight after that. i had one fish hock up 2 shakeyhead (finesse) worms after catching it off of one. and we only caught 3 of t-rig. the only 4 keepers were of that and the shakeyhead....thanks for the input guys, next time ill take pictures, but to me a camera in the boat is bad luck
