Went Thurs PM - - tough outing. Airplane looked great on the graph but slabs, swim baits, and trolling all ineffective. Didn't try bait. Right at dusk I saw a few pockets of schooling fish, but the schools were small and gone in an instant. I'm gonna try again in the morning.

I think the lake has fished tougher this year than any recent year (at least for me). I know the lake fairly well, and have tried most all my spots, but it seems 5 or 6 fish from a spot is about the max I can get with artificials. I've talked with a few guys that fish out there regularly, for various species, and they've all agreed. I know the hybrids were active earlier in the year, but the last month has been pretty brutal overall - - still an occasional good report, but no consistency at all. Not quite sure why.

Can you tell I'm getting frustrated wink

We couldn't agree more. Thursday AM, about 5 hours. One keeper sandie. Lots of dinks and very small yellows. We can find fish, but no takers on anything in the tackle box. Did'nt try shad! Very disappointing.

Grrrr Benbrook--I caught all the hybrids I wanted at LL Wed evening but I hate the drive. Wish BB would heat up again!

I hear ya! Went out this morning, but all I could get was a gob of tiny yellers.

On a good note, the LMB bite is still OK. Got a couple of nice ones worm fishing, plus some dinks. I think for the next few trips I may revert to LMB fishing - - see what catching yellers will do to ya hmmm

Went Monday evening the 30th with my two boys. We managed 102 white bass and two broke rods in 2 1/2 hours.

We only kept the first 13. Took pictures of those when we got home. Up till midnight cleaning fish. By the way, I fish Benbrook alot. That's the best day we have had in 2 years. I let a friend in on the info and they caught almost 200 Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. All schooling fish. Monday, we had them all to ourselves. Small schools but there were 5 up at a time.

Ensignjason,

I'm in a 21ft poontoon with a trolling motor on the front. Usually my two boys are with me. I've created a fishing monster in my 9 yr old. Thursday evening the other boat that has caught 200 in two nights, landed a 23 inch 9 lb Hybrid in one of the schools. 50 feet off the bank in front of the airplane field.
