Well, Jason and his family invited me out to Fork to celebrate the 4th. So, I headed up there after work yesterday. I only took one rod, and just went up there to have fun and relax.

Jason had 2 fish in the night and I lost a thinly hooked buff at the boathouse this morning (yeah...I was ticked).

Anyway, here are my pics from the trip...

Beulah in all her majesty.

Jason likes to cast.

Watching for fish crashes.

Fork sunset.

Fireworks.

Jason's 22 lber.

A cool video of Jason casting a spod. I thought he was going to hit me with it when he came back.

He thought it was a buff. We actually thought it was going to be bigger than that. It was a very deep bodied fish, but not super thick.

The funny thing was that he just had a catfish on another rod and wasn't back asleep yet. For some reason, I heard drag but no alarm. I asked him if he heard it, so he got up, noticed the line wasn't in the alram, and picked it up. It didn't put up much of a fight, which is why he thought it was a buff. We saw that it was a carp right before I netted it. Since we thought it was going to be an upper 20, we took a pic and weighed it...only to be disappointed in its actual weight.

It usually isn't weighed if it looks to be less. We typically just unhook it in the net and let it go. Unless it's a buff. Those are definitely weighed and photoed.

GG, I don't know how far his cast was, but if I had to guess I'd say in the 70 yard range.

The one in the video is a Nash Pursuit spod rod, 12' long. He was hitting further out, but I just happened to film him while he was going for one of the mid-range spots.

As for fishing, Jason is using the ACS MIA II rods.

Justin, that common was a total quasi. It had a great hump on its head. So much for only the buffs being like that in there.

Yeah, several of my carp from there have had a pronounced hump, including my PB.
