Texas Parks and Wildlife made it official just yesterday -- Richard Duncan III of Plano caught the new Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir record channel catfish on a recent Kids Fish, Too! trip accompanied by his younger brother and grandpa.
Here's the photo:
We were vertical jigging with Bryon Nolan's TNT 180 slab spoons for white bass in about 27 feet of water. The fish were hitting hot and heavy when, as often happens when big predators move in, the action went quiet. A few minutes later Richard set the hook after feeling a sharp tug, and line peeled off his spinning reel. He followed instructions real well and brought the 25.5 inch, 7.00 pound fish to net all by himself. It was weighed on a certified scale, measured, witnessed, and released in excellent condition.
Way to go, Richard!!
