I love using my 6'6" Shimano Schmitar Med Heavy. It gives me the perfect feel on the fish/bite and I always spool it with 6# Wally Marshall. Has almost the strength of braid and never spools up with Reel Magic...
Lately fishing with Cliff, I realized BIG TIME that I need to get a 10' pole. Anyone have any suggestions?

I fish mostly slips and brush piles but lately I have been concentrating on bridges and obviously in the spring I will bank fishing for the spawn on the banks so the long reach helps me reach pretty much everything and let's me get unhung quickly...
I just wanted to know what are some good 10' rods...

For now i fish the wally marshall signature rods starting with his 5.6 and 6.6 for bank casting, and then for the spring time his 9.0 wading rod, cattails and reeds, then its own to his titeline series rods for some troling and spider riggen. Soon enough ill have my own line of rods out but then theyre is the 10' bnm Brush cutter this makes for a good bank rod and pulling crappie out of heavy cover its a little heaveier and more expensive, i have caught some big slabs wadefishing in the spring at tawokenee tx with it. Cliff Spindle turned me on to the Berkly Cherrywood when I went out with him. Of course I wanted one of my own. While looking to buy one I saw a Shakesphere Excursion 7' for less money at Walmart($12.95).
The rod builder in me noticed it has an additional guide as well as a little better quality guide which gives better rod control and makes them last longer. So far it has performed well. Wouldn't want to cast with it but for vertical fishing it is very nice.

Everyone has their favorites and everyone is partial to certain ones, so there's is no reason to debate their merits--All are good, quality rods--Wally's, Berkley, B&M, etc--I am partial to the ProAngler series--8, 9, and 10 footers---All the ProAnglers are very durable, sensitive and have a great warranty--Fish with what you are comfortable with and have confidence in---Just my .02--Good fishin'!

I was just looking at my sorry collection of rods today - what a mess. I have about one of everything and most would not be considered crappie rods. I'm with Stucky76 in that I like a stiffer rod (that's what she said) - don't give me a wet noodle (again). My favorite is a 7 foot Academy special that's probably a medium or a medium heavy - ugly and stiff, but a crappie catcher none the less. I have a 10-footer but I just can't get used to fishing it. I'm used to a 6-7 footer so it seems like the boat is always too close when I'm trying my 10-footer (probably because I'm only 6-7 feet away). Feels like I have to crawl to the back of the boat to use the dang thing Greg

I dont think you need the long rods if your running the front of the boat, but if your in the back seat those 10 footers are a must.

Greg PA's are very sensitive! Just be careful when extracting jigs from under water trees. I have never broken a rod removing a jig prior to using PA rods, but I broke 2" off my 10' PA rod tip a couple of months ago. Had to pay to replace the upper section.

10 ft pro angler and Cabela's 8'6" ultralight eagle II. Both work really well. The 8 footer is just plain easier to handle in the timber.

On a family vacation. I'm over here in the lesser state of New Mexico trying to see if I could find someone with a boat as so I could get away from "family" time for some much needed fishing. :)I hear the striper and pike fishing at the nearby lake is fantastic... Ah well, will be back in a few days and should be on the lake soon enough.

Pro Angler! 8' is great for jigging from the bank. I also use it to cast jigs for whites and it's a killer rod for sunfish. Great price, too.

I like any that are made decent, on sale, and affordable. Of course, I only fish when I can and don't own a boat, so that could be why I'm such a cheap-*ss.

I've been using the same 8' rod since the first order came in. Punching jigs off limbs is the easiest way to break a rod.. The best way to free a jig is grab the line and pull. I watch people use long poles daily and it makes me wonder how any of them stay in one piece The new cork handle rods with a new look will be in by the middle of the month. Can't wait to see them
