went to granger sat evening late, got there about 8pm and stayed all nite. got very chilly in early morning moring hours. Crappie were biting ok but not spectuclar. Caught a few good slabs. Then about 2 am the bite really picked up. I had 6 dz minnows and ran out with them still biting good. At 6am went and got 6 dz more minnows whem the store opened. fished till 9. All together had 35 keppers, 2 catfish and about that many mexican keepers I threw back. Minnows were the smallest I've ever seen. a shame.
almost every crappie swallowed the hook. wonder why ?
about 9 here come the skiers and the green lipped trash fish guys. Time to go. Glad they cant ski at nite. Not many boats there that nite, maybe 2 or 3 was all.

I sure was. I gathered up christmas trees and tied concrete blocks to'em and dropped them just off the river channel in 15 foot water back in janurary. they were marked on my lowrance but I have a new lowrance and it isnt marked. And they would only bit if you were right in the brush. If you were 5 foot from the brush, out of luck

Is it possible to get into crappie from the bank in the summer, like upriver on some of the deeper bluff banks at the primitive launch?
I've also heard that the crappie move around the riprap on the dam and at the parks, but is this a spring only pattern?
I miss crappie...

SnowyRiver, where did you launch your boat? I heard that all the parks at Granger Lake close their gates at 10pm and you can't even get out without the code to open the lock. Is this true? I'd really love to night fish Granger. But I have not tried yet because my friend was locked in once at Fox Park and he had to stayed there until day break with his 6-year old son.

I lauched at fox park. They do close the gate at 10 and get real pissy if you stay later. The night we went we stayed all nite. They did leave the gate open that nite. I dont know if it was a oversight or what, but I left at 5 to get more minners and the gate was open. Over at friendship they dont have a gate, its open all the time

Thanks for the reply, snowyriver2. So if i want to do some night fishing without being held hostage for whole night, i can launch at friendship park, right? I've never been there. I'll try it out. David

Yes but you missed the most excitement Dave! We had to wait at the ramp while some guy got arrested! There were 5 county and the game warden searching him (a bit overkill in my opinion). Why the heck did they have to do that at the ramp? AND they didn't budge even an inch so we could load up the boat.

The guy being arrested at the Friendship ramp was one of three low life SOBs. The game warden caught them shocking fish, two ran but were arrested later. After the arrest the warden did a more complete search, found two large bags of marjuana and crack. Looks like the county now ownes an additional boat and truck. Glad to see the officials doing a great job.

Thanks for the info DougM! In that case, That is great to hear and see! Go Law! I figured it was a really big deal when the GW did not bat an eye at us and went over and started searching their boat.

Game Warden checked the SOBs and caught them in the act. Question is what is the difference in standing water and running water, both conduct electricity.

We met the Game Warden out their yesterday; infact he was at our boat while he watched these guy's over where old FM 971 came across the lake. Thats where the telephone calls were made. Score one for our law enforcement. We don't need this kind of stuff on Lake Granger. Brian is a really good guy. I wish he was our Game Warden in eastern Williamson County.

Yeah those guys were there before we launched around 5:30am. Nice brand new truck...tiny trailer..lol. I'm glad they were caught. I just can't believe they would do that on July 4th of all days though. Obviously I can't believe they would do that at all, but how dumb do you have to be to not realize its a huge day for the GW.
