i have installed a new to me humminbird fish finder. im ready to mount the transducer to the transome. there is the transducer mounted to a bracket with 2 holes for screws and another lead with what looks like a sensor of some kind. now heres the dumb question..what do i do with that lead, just let it hang?? thanks in advance, frostbite.

I think your talking about the temp sensor(is it flat or does it have a wheel on it?). That should also be mounted below the water line. Somewhere where it is not in the way. BUT....if it is the paddle wheel for you speed, it needs to be mounted low enough so that water passing under the boat spins the wheel.

Go to the Humminbird web site and download an owners manual for the model you have. It will show mounting instructions.

thanks guys, i think its a water temp. sensor. i let it hang below the transducer. i am ordering a manual anyway. always handy to have. frostbite...
