My boat came with Continental trolling and starting batteries in '98. After seven years of good service I replaced them with Optima. Now three years later, my starting and one of the TM batteries are not taking a charge. Buyer beware. Fool me once... shame on you.

Sorry to hear that - I've have my TM Optimas for 4 years with no problems. It seems for every good experience with one brand, someone has a bad experience. Maybe the factors of usage patterns, type of charger, frequency of charging, etc... do have differing effects on battery life.
