Ordered an EXTRA HEAVY Carrot Stick LTX from tackle warehouse on Monday and it came in today. Took it to the lake this evening to test it out. Set the hook on the first fish and snapped the rod just a little below the first eye. I got the fish in and it turned out to be a 6lber. I guess I will find out how good their customer service is.

UPDATE: Called E21 last week. Tell the guy that answered what happened and his response was "that's about typical". Hmmm. This doesn't sound good. Get the extension number for the manager over the fishing rods part of the business and he was in a meeting. I played phone tag with him for a couple days but finally got a hold of him. After telling him what happened he tells me to get with Tackle Warehouse and to call him if I have any problems.

I call Tackle Warehouse. The man there tells me they think they got a bad batch of rods and they will probably have to send them all back to E21 to get them replaced as mine was about the fourth one to break in about two weeks. So now I'm waiting on a return label to get here so I can send it back to Tackle Warehouse and get a replacement.

Sounds to me like they have a quality control issue. If they know what quality control is.

Too many good rod builders out there to take a second chance.

What did they use a batch of rotten carrots to build the blanks?

Maybe a little over ripe?

It all comes down to quality control.

I talked to Loyde Duckett at the Falcon elite series and he handed me his rod that he had just rigged for the next day! He said that he loves em and when I felt how sensitive it was I was sold on one! Just havent Bought one yet!

Can't be from Kistler because people are getting their rods replaced and are real happy with the customer service. smile

BTW - I don't own one, but they sure feel good. I checked them out at Cabela's and when I went back a week later, the 4 or 5 they had were gone.

The last thing I'll add is you should judge a company by how the handle their problems. Every company will have problems and it's how they handle these problems that separate the great from the good from the terrible (you know, the company that requires you to know the secret hand shake and call the owner to beg for the same level of service all his competitors provide as standard).

I just love a rod that breaks on first cast, but you can get it replaced..over and over and over..doesn't make sense to me..

They really are great feeling rods. I love the reel seat. I have one of their crankbait rods too and I haven't had any problems out of it. I just hope they get this quality control issue figured out.

I can understand a company having a problem and the customer service makes up for that if it doesn't happen again.
But, If you have held one of these rods with a Revo Premeir mounted to it.... WOW.. Talking about a 7' MH rod that is 3oz and a fantastic reel that is 6oz and the combo is out of this world.. Wish I could afford a bunch of these setups..

Anybody interested in buying them should shoot me an PM or email to jterryiv@aol.com and I can hook you up with what you want. As well as save you a few $$ and even more if you want more than one. Hope this is not stepping on anybodys toe's. If so please remove. Thanks!

I have four Carrot sticks... I love em. I had the same problem with one. I called and spoke to the people in Canada. They explained the problem and sent me a new one the next day. It was a quality control problem. Was very sorry for the inconvience and took great care of me. I was satisified. I had it for the weekend. Great people. I love the rod and have used all fo them alot.... good stick....

I am now thinking of getting the spinning rod to try it out also...

Element 21 is the name of the company that makes these rods. They also build golf clubs although the clubs have not caught on well. The shafts are a different story however, Vijay Singh actually switched to the E21 shafts for a while, I do not know if he is still using them or not although I know several touring pros are using their shafts.

I do not have a carrot stick or their shafts but they are making a splash in both markets. Their stock is not really making much of a splash but they are a public company. ETGF is the ticker and no I do not own any shares, just sharing info.

I just got the Carrot Stix Crankin rod a couple of weeks ago and love it. It is the 5th Carrot Stix I've added to my boat. No problems at all with any of them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is not a rod made by ANY manufacturer that won't break. As has been said, it all comes down to the customer service and how it is handled.

FYI - I have no affiliation with any Rod company. I know what I like, buy and use. I also use, and like, Falcon and Shimano rods.

I have broke 3 Loomis rods this year, 2 of them were user error on a stump and a 50 lb catfish, thank goodness for Cabelas, they just give you a new one no questions asked.

I had two LTA Helium rods break, left two messages with Kistler and never a response. Good customer service?

Granted, I bought them from an individual, Lake Fork Guide Jason Hoffman. They were new and in good condition. Both tips broke, one on a hookset. The most brittle rods I've ever seen in my life. So, perhaps they were not covered or they didn't want to help me out, but a simple call to tell me so would have went a long way. Can't really see myself buying another in the future.

Maybe I'll by a few Carrot Sticks!

Got an email back finally. Wow awesome warranty!

"Lifetime warranty over the counter warranty against material manufacturing defects."

"You can either return the broken rod back to the place of purchase for an immediate replacement, or if it is by mail warranty you need to cut the area containing the decal from the rod and send it along with a check for $30 to the warranty center to cover shipping and handling of the replacement rod"

And thank you kindad101. I think you might find this part interesting

War-ran-ty: a written guarantee given to the purchaser of a new appliance, automobile, or other item by the manufacturer or dealer, usually specifying that the manufacturer will make any repairs or replace defective parts free of charge for a stated period of time.

You really can't go wrong with either. I've got some Falcon Caras and some Carrot Stix and I like both brands. I'm not sure which Falcon is their Flipp'n rod, but Carrot Stix has a 7'6' Heavy that seems like it would be good. grin

I'm also in the market for a new flippin stick, which carrot stick would be best for flipping with 30lb braid?

I've narrowed it down to carrot stix or a falcon too, I haven't been entirely impressed with sensitivity of the couple falcons I own.

Crankbait is a reaction strike and flipp'n is more of a feel game. I would definately go with the flipp'n rod in a carrot stix. my .02
