Well, this is a 3 day report..

7-1-08
Not A Guide report just had a chance to fish with friends laugh
Ray Hubbard 7/1/08**My Biggest Hybrid to Date

7-2-08 Afternoon

Had guest Steve, Paul and Johnny in the boat for some fishing. We started at 3:30pm and dropped Johnny off at 7:00pm then fished till dark. Fishing was great…. The catching part was very tough. We did get Steve his first nice hybrid, but that was the only one we caught. The whites did not help us out either. Last week we were catching 100’s , this week I would beg for 50 keepers. Not much to report, did keep 28 whites with 1 hybrid, caught more but small fish. All fish caught on TNT 180’s & Haymakers in 13-32ft water. Winds was weird, NE-E-SE and water temp was 85 degrees.

7-3-08
Now the interesting report laugh Had gust Greg and his 3 kids laugh Nathan (6) Jenna (9) and Sara (11) first time fishing. Well the morning was not much better. We caught fish but not many keepers… a few small hybrids and the ever elusive yellow bass laugh Now, if you have ever taken 3 kids fishing that have never fished then you can only imagine the fun we did have when we would hook up. I know we get on here and report about the 100’s of fish we catch and if we only catch 40 we feel like we failed. Let me please remind everybody how we as fisherman and guides beat ourselves up on a daily bases is we do not catch 100 fish. It really brought me to reality a little bit about the joys you can have fishing when the catching is tough. The kids were very excited and said they had a great time, the dad thanked me for my patients. Now , don’t think I will stop trying to catch 100’s but we all have tough days.

Just like I always report….. The very good days and no reason not to report the tough days. I am off the whole weekend again. Talked a couple of people out of trips this weekend because of the holiday weekend and will take them out at a later date. I don’t think all the boat traffic will help…. But you never know, it might stir them up laugh laugh Have a safe holiday and let me know if the catching is better laugh laugh

I think all the regular boaters out at Hubbard owe John a great big thank you. We were out with John on Wednesday and he took 3 inexperienced fisherman out and showed us the ropes. Was the bite a little slow...yes. But he took the time and took us out to several different spots on the lake. We caught fish at just about every spot.

Now the why on why everyone owes john a great big thank you. We are the people on the lake that you hate. When ever we are out we are always trolling. John showed us a few spots to catch fish along with how to catch em. Even though the bite was slow it was definitely better that what we had been doing trolling (hands down).

Big thanks to you John and I am pretty sure we are going to take you up on your offer to come back out with you. Thanks again for the lessons on the lake but can i bring my girly rod back out!!

Very good JV, yes it has been tough the last 2 days. Not every day is 100 fish, but still nice to be out on the lake trying to figure out what it will take to boat a few. Hope everyone has a safe and festive 4th of JULY. Be careful on the water this weekend and please remember: FOLLOW THE YELLOW TAHOE!

John, I've been on Hubbard the last couple days with the same results as well. Just a few here and there, the bites been tough. We got lucky Tuesday and found fish schooling well in the middle of the day (3pm-ish). Talked to a few other guys that found them schooling mid-day. Seems like they are coming up later and later on Twak as well.

John,

You gotta love taking kids fishing!!!!!! The fish don't have to be big, and you don't need tons and tons of them to make them yell, scream, and jump up and down with excitement!!!!!

good one Bob. my brother and I are working on talking my dad into a trip with John so that will cure the 3 of us from trolling needlessly.

I enjoyed my experience, thanks john and thanks to the boaters that tolerate us trollers.

The guys that troll are fishing just like we are. We would just appreciate that you not troll right down the middle of a group of guys fishing. I have caught plenty of fish drifting and that is a great technique if you do not have a trolling motor.

I know John is a great teacher. I have to admit Iam a student of his and he has taught me probably more than he realizes and I really appreciate every bit of it.

It sounds like you guys had a great trip, and after all that is what it is all about.
