i fish mainly topwaters and spinner baits and a few crank baits and was wondering if there is a good all around line to use i use baitcasting reels only mostly fish for bass

Its cheap and very reliable.

Yup Big Game--its cheap--cheap to buy and cheaply made. Try Sufix Tritanium---one of the better mono/fluoro blends out there. Much less stretch than mono, seems to have better knot strength than other blends and very little memory.

McCoys Mean Green #1 choice. I used to use Big Game but switched to McCoys and like it better.

Here is a review on the negatives of big game. If you dont want to spend more than a couple of dollars and dont mind a larger line that fish are more likely to see then I guess it's the line for you.

Weaknesses: The tradeoff for superior strength is higher visibility. Big Game doesn't disappear as well as some other lines and depending on what you are fishing for you may want to use a line with a thinner diameter. While Big Game casts consistently it is not the smoothest, and if smooth casting is a priority then stick with Trilene XL. The only other complaint we have with Big Game is that it does not have as low a memory as we would like. Twists and bends in the line take a while to straighten out completely.

All I use now is Trilene XL smooth cast. I tried the Sufix line and it all sux. I'll give the new Trilene Maxx a shot when I can find some.

I second Jason's recommendation of the Sufix Tritanium. I really like this line and use it for just about everything with a treble. I've used most other monos and copolymers and the Sufix is my favorite.

I fish rocks and heavy cover with crankbaits and this line holds up better than any other without being to thick or stiff. It's also more sensitive. There are only a few lines I've used that I can feel each rock as I bounce the bait off and this is the best for sensitivity and abrasion resistance. Though I don't use it for bottom baits, I use fluorocarbon, I am sure the sensitivity of this line would make it a great choice.

Cost - I think I paid $11 for 1100 yards, so it's cheap for a quality copolymer.

Second vote for Ande Back Country. I buy the big spool of 15# or 20#. I believe it's 1 spool#. You can fill a lot of reels off it. Got it at Gander Mountain on clearance last time for $20. I do not know why I did not buy 4 or 5 spools at that price. If I fish a tournament it's new line every time. On recreational or practice I really do not care. Big Game would be my second choice.

I would say the only issue I have with Ande Back Country is it does not like to be doubled over. It will make it weaken. Of course not many mono lines perform well on that.

Mccoy Mean Green. low memory, smooth casting, and super strong. get about 900 yards for 19 bucks.

I love Big Game for saltwater. It's great as a live bait line or on my larger offshore rigs. For bass fishing, a copolymer or fluorocarbon will have much less memory and works much better for repeated casting. I also use copolymer line on my redfish and trout rigs.

I am willing to try the line you mentioned because I respect your viewpoints that I have read so far. However my question is this, if it is so good, why don't Academy, BPS, and Cabelas carry it?

I bought mine at Cabelas but I don't see it on the website. It was a cheap line and I guess it didn't sell well, but I've been very happy with it. For me it was easily equal to or beter than the more pricey copolymers I've tried like Gamma, P Line and Yo-Zuri to name a few.

I'll add that I also have some McCoys and look forward to trying it.
