I can catch Sandbass all-day but never seem to find the Hybrids.

What's the best technique, bait and location? Drift Fishing with live shad? Targeting the humps with lures? I do not own the best graphs so it would probably be hard for me to find schooling fish. Any suggestions?

Right now, I've not found any significant schools of only hybrid. Lately to catch a few, I have found schools of sandies and then change to a larger bait like a 2oz slab or a 4-5" sassy shad. If they are schooling I use the sassy, make a cast and sink it. Then reel slow with the rod tip low and don't set the hook when they strike. Sometimes you feel 10 bites on retrieve and no fish, but if a hybrid is in the mix and takes the bait they will normally hook up.

Other than that I'm kinda lost on finding them this week on Hubbard. They seem to have been scattered out since the last full moon for me.

WE were out in a massive school of sandies this past weekend,and I've always heard to go under the school,with slab.I did just that and it worked,2 nice ones and one over,was awesome!!

Thats about the best way I've found to catch 'em lately. Try not to set the hook on the bites. Sometimes it'll backfire on ya and you'll get a sandy that gill hooks, but if you are careful you can get the hook out without hurting the ones you let go.

Like Matt said, bigger bait... I have been throwing a 4 inch sassy when we do find fish but not many big hybrids, big slabs deep and sassy when schooling. The live bait thing might be the way to go till they group back up

Large shad, down by the dam, they will nibble, nibble, nibble then rod tip down, set the hook. One or two cranks off the bottom. Fish are scattered, be patient.

All of these ideas sound great. But, the only sure way is to take Superduck's advice, works everytime.

Bigger baits, If you are still finding alot of surface activity, try a saltwater sized chug bug, the bigger hooks will keep alot of smaller fish off, and when they are slapping at it that action will draw them bigger hybrids up....
