The truth is that after 135 Striper tournaments the only thing that I have found will make you better than the next guy is prefishing. I am going to do some prefishing starting this weekend.I have been able to prefish more this year than in the last five years.Luck is envolved but the more you fish the more luck you have.

The other thing I have learned is that sometimes no matter how much you think your on fish in a tournament some one can hand your arse to you. The more you prefish the more dissapointed you are.Most tournament fishemen fail because of pressure and not winning at the start.If they have a sponsor the fail real fast! To learn how to win you have to be able to learn how to loose. In 1994 Jakie Mercer beat me by 10 points for the TSA Championship/ I learned alot that day and tournament fishing was much more important to me then.

As has been posted here before my son Spencer won the NSBA Youth Angler of the year in 2004. We fished 18 striper tournaments in TX,LA,Ark,OK, and Tenn. Spencer missed 18 days of school and still passed.Spencer wore out a game boy riding in the truck and I wore out a truck and my credit card. His princable said that if more fathers would spend that much time with there kids his job would be easy.
After 18 years of fishing the TSA a win in 2008 won't top 2004.

Team Family Style will be at Texoma.We are going to prefish as much as we can without going broke or making the wife mad. Lots of guys would not take there kids to somthing like this but.....mine will be welcome. They alaways semm to calm me down and we catch bigger fish.If Tom can finish three places in front of Team family Style his team will win the 2008 TSA Tournament trail.He will make a comment of some kind and we will shake hands and be friends. I will lick my wounds in silence as I always have.

I will be at Texoma Wednesday - Sunday this week volunteerng for the Camp Cavett outing. But I will be fishing the schoolies and open water top water = can't get a fish out of that type fishing big enough to win a tourney, but it will be a lot of fun

Still undecided about July 19 though...

Ya'll keep an eye on Team Nauti Pilot...we're gunning for minimum of 3rd for the trail this year...it's in reach.

My guess is it will take minimum of 16 lbs to win and very possibly more....Ive been catching lots of fish in the 7-12 lb range this week...
