When we’re out on the boat, we always want to have a bite but it’s obviously awfully inconvenient to do so. I know this is kinda a random topic for this discussion board, and I sure hope you don’t think I’m out of line for saying it. I mean, honestly, my wife bought me a container that my son and I take out on the boat, and I just thought of the forum and wanted to pass it along. I’m usually pretty quiet, but I definitely read through a lot of posts. The thing is called a Foldtuk. My wife cooks in it, stores leftovers, and then we bring the food on the boat. We collapse it when we’re done, so it’s really quite helpful to us. If this does seem like a good idea, definitely check out Foldtuk ... Happy fishin, folks!

I generally have a sandwich, Snicker bar, chips, and soft drink (Coke or Pepsi). I'll also have 3-4 bottles of water.

That's enough. If the fishing is strong I may have very little. There's a coupla places on Rayburn I can run to for a cheeseburger and fries too.

I don't know that its stoopid. I just won't need to be eating anything out of a bowl on the boat. Finger foods and/or an insulated thermos do OK for me.

It's hard for me to stop and eat. Just hard to put the rod down and get my sandwich or burrito. Usually do so when cruising from one spot to another. I do drinks lots of water though.

+1
for me, one or more of the following: Breakfast Taco, sandwich, breakfast bar, Ensure (30 second meal with minerals to help prevent cramps), water, Gaterade.

I just found out gatoraide causes kidney stones according to my doctor (all the sodium). I am dealing with that now...so it looks like water, water and more water unless it is watered down gatoraide.

snacks well I tend to eat nuts, granola bars, fruit. but when it is breakfast time, it is (depending on what lake) breakfast burritos that provides great fumes for later entertainment.

If I'm in fish, at least on one lake, I don't stop to eat, but will drink water and cokes/gatorade and that's between taking a fish off and casting back out. Like most of yall said, no bowels, plates, utensils...just a plastic ziplock bag with my stuff in it. Takes up less room...

There was a time when salt tablets were the thing to take during the hot summer days. I ate those things, 6 or 8 a day during USAF basic and in Viet Nam.

Oh dang Mike. I didn't know Gatorade caused kidney stones. It makes sense though. I have been plagued by them the last few years. I sometimes take a big Gatorade when I know I'm gonna be hot and sweaty. Now I guess it will be mainly water for me too.
Thanks for the mention of that little fact.... eeks

I suppose that the gator stuff could cause kidney stones if you had too much of it, and don't sweat that much. Two docs told me to dilute it half and half with water. I don't do that, but I alternate water and the gaterade.

For me, fishing and sweating in hot weather, I need to replenish my minerals, or I will get serious leg cramps. I take some "Thermotabs" from my pharmacy. They contain sodium and potassium chloride. Sometimes, after 8 or 9 hours fishing in 100* temps., I wake up with bad (as in painful)leg cramps. I take one of those with a glass of o.j. and the cramps go away quickly.

I have a history of kidney stones too and I routinely have Gatorade on hand. Time to re think this one. I didn't know that. As far as the breakfast burritos go.... Note to self: Keep Mike way on the other end of the boat.

If you get cramps, drink a small glass of pickle juice and they will go away in a couple of minutes. I'm a true believer...don't knock it until you try it!

Try eating a banana..it has potassium in it. It should help avoid those cramps.
