was out on Marine creek this afternoon and saw police helicopter. came in a bit from cove and saw a horrible scene. Later learned a man had drowned by the 820 boat ramp. We didnt get to close, I have a mega zoom on the camera. Seeing this scene can never turn out well.

Say a prayer for the family tonight

News said they found his body about 10pm. He swam out to retrieve a raft for his daughter that had blown from shore and couldn't make it back. Prayers for his family.

That ramp is a lousy place to swim, but I always see families doing so. Don't understand why they don't find a nicer (and safer) place spend the day with their families. EML is close by and has nicer facilities and swimming areas.

Why do people insist on thinking that they can swim many yards out in open water, no life jacket without a problem. I feel so bad for the family and kids that had to witness this tragedy. Becasue it could have been avoided. God be with the family.
