They are good boats. I don't see that many issues with them other than driver induced issued.

They are popular boats because they do everything pretty good, nothing spectacular, but nothing really bad either.

I have a 1997 189 Classic with a 115 Johnson. It is a good dry smooth boat. I have used it a lot and it has held up well. The only issue is the center console--as with all center consoles, they catch a lot of wind on windy days. Makes for more work with the trolling motor than a low sided bass boat.

It's not only the center console it's the amount of free board. Combine the 2, cc/freeboard and it is almost like having a sail. I have a Kenner 19VX and carry an extra battery.

I think Blue Wave's are excellent boats. I use to own a 01 22ft with 150 Vmax EFi. That boat would run shallow. I use to run it all over Pringle lake and never had a problem. It was a great boat, but I now own a Skeeter ZX225 (bass boat) There towards the end of ownership with my BW all I did was bass fish from it, and got whipped to my spots during tourney's. Got a 225 on the Skeeter and that should help with that problem.

I have not had a problem with it. It started hard and Imade the discovery that I was pumping the bulb to much and flooding it, now 3 easypumps and it starts right up. Only need to pump it if setting for more then 3 days. I keep it outside.

the only thing i hate about them is they hold their value pretty well and its hard to find a good price! other then that, very nice boats, well made, the yamaha is great, and that combo should keep you going across the water at a pretty good pace. probably the best part is alot of what they used as far as hardware (rod holders, pumps, hatches, lids, cushions) can still be bought from the factory - ordered through a bluewave dealer, or just pick something up at the boat shop to replace whatever may go wrong after 8 years.
