I was there with my brothers and guides Brett Fisher http://www.bafsports.com/ and Rick Cathey last Thursday and Friday. The fish were cooperating pretty good, and fishing was great despite the wind. Most of the big fish we caught were on topwater on the inside edge in areas with hard bottoms that were holding brim beds. The areas that had duck weed and star grass mixed with Hydrilla were best. The big fishing were eating a spook really well however I caught my 10lbr on a buzzbait. Once the sun got up really well we caught fish on traps, spinnerbaits, flukes and senkos in the hydrilla beds from 3 to 8 feet. We also caught fish droppin on the outside edge 8 to 12 feet deep using 1.5oz tungsten and your choice of plastic(Beavers, senkos, & tubes). Hope this helps.

Great report Trump.--- Was going to go down last week as well but a friend did some Ac duct work for me so I missed the trip.
My son and I are going down next Thurs/Fri.
Hope the wind stays down. Trump. Did you fish the main lake North Bank/south bank or the river Hwy 99 area ?

The Wind was out of the South both days so we mainly fished Calliham and Southshore, however we did fish 4 fingers friday morning and found schoolies all over 4 fingers point chasing shad, but got tired of fighting the wind. We caught a few good fish to 5lbs in some of the cuts in 4 fingers on spooks. The water was clearer too but it seems like the fishing was better on the southside of the lake.

Rio I do have Pic's but don't know how to post them on here? And yes you're right it was super intense, I couldn't believe how hard she was pulling, and on a MH Spinnerbait Rod it wasn't much I could do but hold on. How'd you do this weekend?

Thanks for the report Triumph...wish I had seen it before I headed out. I had a tough day today. Spent most of my time on the north side of the lake, maybe could've done better on the south side. The only thing the produced multiple bites for me today (even though it wasnt many) was pitching a weightless senko into holes in the hydrilla.

Just curious though...could you see the bream beds? I've never noticed any on Choke, but would love to be able to find some and break out the crappie rods to catch a mess for fryin.

Yes If the wind isn't blowing or if you're in a protected area you can see them, In the back of some of the cut's in Southshore that have hard rock bottoms. In the past while bank fishing I have seen lot's of them bedding in the calliham state park area west of the ramp. I've also seen them in Northshore boat ramp area and the banks west of the ramp.

Same thing for me on the edge of grass pattern.
Wind blew us away !!!!
We had a big Gator come at our boat-- which was a first for me.
I've been around aload of them gators but never had one do what this one did.
My son was less than thrilled !

Rio,
He is still probably trying to remove those traps from my last trip so he is a little upset still. LOL
Just kidding, when I see one he can have the whole cove as we ran into some really agressive crocks at Coleto Creek one time so we move on if they are around.,.,.
