Went camping this weekend at Tyler State Park and was disappointed with the fishing. Threw everything I knew, at every different time of day, at several different spots from Friday to Sunday (today) and I ended up with one dink. I don't know too much about the lake, but it looks fishy. It also looks like it gets very little pressure. What gives? I even stood out in the rain getting soaked without a bite.

You were at Tyler State Park's Lake not Lake Tyler. Two different places.

That lake gets a lot of pressure for its size...

I would like to know where the fish are on Lake Tyler. I live in Henderson and am only 25 minutes from the lake. I have found 3 brush piles and one hump, but so far I have not done well on the lake. I am not a tournament fisherman due to being a football coach and not having enough time. I would just like to have a little input. You can PM me so tournament guys don't beat you on your spots. I would also be up for taking my boat or going with one of the "pros" on this lake. Anyone interested?

I will give you on Monday. As soon as I can tell what is going to be going on with work. We will go this week. I will not be able to go on Thursday, or Friday. These are tournament nights.

the lake has been pretty tuff the last month or so. sounds like the places you have found should hold fish. keep these places in mind because come cooler weather the bass should hold closer to brush piles and humps.

The brush piles are in 15-23 ft of water. I would think that the bass would be all over these during the summer months. They are there in other lakes that I fish. Tyler just seems to march to a different drum.

I don't know anyone, but as for the original question in this thread, all I can say is...

THANK GOODNESS THE CITY, TP&WD, AND ALL THE "CONCERNED HOMEOWNERS" KILLED ALL THAT TERRIBLE GRASS IN LAKE TYLER!

WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!

At least I can keep my lure clean and purty, and don't have to pull it through a bunch of nasty ol' hydrilla while I'm out there not catching fish...

Hey footballfisherman, I talked to you one day on Tyler, I was in a blue Ranger with my wife and child. Man, Lake Tyler is funny. It's really not that tough. The fish there are always gonna hold to structure; points, humps, etc. Razorback is right about killing the hydrilla. It made fishing tougher. You keep on that lake alot and you'll learn to love it. It can be one of the best lakes in east texas!

I followed most of, ya'lls post, during the spring and ya'll were stroking them everyday. Summer on Tyler is more challenging than spring bank fishing. Know enough main lake structure and just keep checking each one. They show up eventually to feed. Then go during the week cause there would be less boat traffic, compared to weekends. Go on Tues. Wed. or Thur, the lake settles down by then. Lake Tyler is such a good lake/s that it makes a lot of people think they are good fishermen. (including me, I can even catch some)

Summer on any lake is more challenging.

Don't tell that to TP&WD, the City of Tyler, or the guy I saw a while back with a big rake, raking the water several feet off the bank behind his house.

They will be out there tomorrow with more poisonous spray, a few thousand grass carp...and depth charges just in case that doesn't do the job.

i thought it was to much grass. every year it came back thicker. i like the lakes the way they are now. and its not like the lake has no grass, there is still a lot of grass on the east lake (not hydrilla), and lately i have been finding more and more hydrilla.
