Good Morning All,

A friend and I have recently begun taking a small 12 foot boat to White Rock lake and haven't had much success. We've fished just about every part of the Buckner entrance part of the lake and have just a few tugs here or there. I've fished every type of lure I can think of. Jigs, live worms, spinner baits, crankbaits, fake worms. I just don't get it I've seen a few people along the banks having alot of success catching some Cats although I want some good bass fishing has anyone had some success at White Rock fishing for Bass? Which spots should we focus on because we hit the creek & bridges frequently. We have a fish finder and I was really shocked how shallow the lake is.

Since you are getting no response on this I will weigh in with my limited info. I too live near Whiterock lake and have a small boat I put on the lake once this past spring. Struck out but did not consider that unusual.

Was riding my bike around the lake one day and saw a guy fishing from the bank that seemed to have a clue. He said that in the spring you can catch em coming up shallow. Said he and buds have taken 8 - 10 pounders from the lake. Of course, this could be just a fish story. He was throwing the largest texas-rigged tube bait I have ever seen so he was certainly going for the big girls.

Anyway, probably not much help but that's all I know.

Good luck!

I would say 7-8lbs are the biggest. Yea there are fish bigger than that, but I would say they are VERY few far and between. I have never seen a 10lb bass from WRL and have lived 10 min away my whole life except my drunken college days in Lubbock =)

They exist, I've seen one. The whole lake is ~6-7ft deep except for several places. Those places are going to hold the big girls.

Good luck.

I just moved from that area. Used to troll around casting the banks a lot. Nice fish there for sure. Even a nice little population of sand bass. Not a whole lot of structure but there is some. Find the structure, find the fish. Docks, piers, sticks near creeks mouths. Just have to work it. Sandies always wind up near the shallow area by the footbridge on the north side of the lake if you get bored.

I know a guy that caught some real nice bass at the mouth of one of the creeks there.
