22 lbs. 4 oz. George Perry in Georgia, many years ago. One in CA was caught that was suppose to be bigger, but they didn't weigh it on certified scales. Millon dollar mistake.

Not exactly as you state. The fish was foul hooked in the dorsal fin. Not a legal catch in Calif. The fish was weighed on a certified scale and was over 25lb. That said, the same fish had a black dot "beauty mark" on its jaw, and was found belly up after it spawned this year.

The scale at the time was not certified. It was certified after the catch. Sent off to the IGFA for cerification.

What gets me, there is and has been a certified scale at the bait shop on Dixon, which is only 100 yards away.

These guys do this with a passion as told by all the cali boys, yet they used the boat anchor rope for a stringer.

Depends on which one being discussed.
There was a 24 lbs. bass caught but not officially weighed:

Another one was caught by a woman using a Storm Wildeye Swimshad. It weighed 24 lbs. too.

Texas has a long way to go for a world record. We have tons of double digit fish but look how long that 18lb+ state record has been hanging around.

Gotta differ on that one.
Having lived in CA all my adult life I can assure you that 18lb fish are not "common" on CA lakes, trout or no trout. They are there no doubt, but it is not common to catch one.

I agree, with the number of large bass being caught in Amistad, I believe there is a monster just waiting...

The Bass in California was nicknamed Dottie. It is claimed that she weighted 25lbs 1oz.

"The 25-pound, 1 ounce swimmer, known as “Dottie” due to a dime-sized black spot on its white neck, won't be swimming upstream, however. Although surviving three run-ins with a hooks and lines since 2001, Dottie was found recently belly up in Dixon Lake, the primary water source for the southern California city of Escondido, home to nearly 145,000 people in the northeastern corner of San Diego County"

Virus hit Lake Fork in 99 but I can assure you it is as good has it ever has been. I log every trip just about and it is producing like it was in the good old days, minus the weird weather. In fact two years after the fish kill we had one of the best years since it opened except for 1997. The fish kill had to happen cause we were over stocked and it did help the food chain bounce back. I seen 60 fish a day when the Virus it hit but I never seen a fish over 7 pounds. Most were 3-5 pounds. We may never break the 20 pound mark but I would like to see it happen.

The bass caught in Cali. had been persued and caught three times by a group of three anglers chasing the world record. Her name was dotty, I think, because of a noticable and distinguisable dot near her face that they used to identify her.

Like I said she was caught 3 times, and each time she was caught she was close to the record. One time, she broke the record on one scale but after time went by she did not break the record on the official scal. On another time, she had the record beat by like a lb or two but was fould hooked while swipping at the lure from a bed. Because of the foul hook the record did not count.

Oops I didnt realize that someone had already posted about this. Sorry, however TJ was right. She recently was found dead and weighed arond 19 lbs dead. Huge fish and sad, but that is life.

I don't remember reading in BASS that is was foul hooked. Just it wasn't ever excepted as certified.

The Reason you see no BASS over 19 lbs from LAKE FORK is because of SHARE A LUNKER they caught all the original brood bass and instead or replacing them or releasing them they all died in captivity while in the care of TPW hatchery. This is why I released my last and biggest of 14lbs+ back into the lake.Share a lunker has all the genetics they need from our lakes. They only revert back after the 4th go round anyway they do not need the genetics to turn ARKANSAS on us they need to import from now on and do away with share a lunker.

I read a comment from the guy that caught the bass that they had foul hooked it off a bed one time. It would have been the world record then, if not for the foul hook. I read this report from him off of YouTube I think. It had all the same information that you stated, but I definatly remember that foul hook tidbit.
