They are definitly in Fork. I caught one that went just over 25lbs last week but released it because Im a private person and didnt want all the publicity.

If there is a world record in Texas I would have to say It is in Amistad or Falcon just because of the growing rate, lack of pressure, forage, and size of the lake. I do not think there is one in Lake Fork. All the stars would have to be lined up ! I do not think there is one in A.H. either. Now both/all may hold a new State Record but in Reality a new world record is way out there !! Just my 2 cents worth .

I love California anglers. They catch big fish but never certify anything and have some long sad story about extenuating circumstances. But how do they consider Dixon a LAKE when it is 75 acres? Thats pathetic. Come fish and stop fishing ponds I agree. It seems like many times a giant is caught in California there are clouds of controversy surrounding the catch.
Paul Duclos catches a supposed 24# fish and weighs it on a bathroom scale...
Sandy Defresco catches a 21+ and they find a 2.5# diver's weight in the belly...
And most recently this 25.1 is caught but the fish was snagged in the side while the guy is bed fishing for her. I believe he did the honorable thing by not submitting her to the IGFA for world record status but there were two young men watching them fish for this bass standing on the dock. They saw him foul hook the fish. The question is would he still have been truthful if the witnesses were not there?
Don't misunderstand me. There are some excellent sticks there like Matt Newman, Mickey Ellis, Mike Long. I have fished with Matt & Mickey and either one of these guys have the ability and the perseverance to catch a new world record.
As far as Fork still holding a lake record I would love to think so but I am not sure. I do believe you could catch another 18+ from her.
What many folks do not realize is that a giant bass can and will eat a 2+ pound crappie in one gulp. I personally witnessed a 14# fish that was caught by guide Tony Clark that spit up a crappie in the minnow vat at Rainswood that weighed 1.5# WITH NO HEAD OR TAIL. You could barely make out that it was a crappie due to it being partially decomposed.
Think about this: The bass eats a 2+ pound crappie and is STILL feeding when it bites his lizard. Amazing!

they caught all the original brood bass and . ALL of them ERIC what do you know of the stocking of FORK??? There were only a certain number of fish over 10lbs released into the brood ponds and they are all accounted for at this date. I am sure you are an expert fisherman and everyone wishes they could reach your potential at some point but the rest of us who actualy know a little of what we speak of can and will help you through this. There were NONE returned ALIVE ALL WERE CAUGHT. GENETICS REVERT BACK IN THE 4TH it is all in text books the likes of which you chose not to learn to read. This is why there is no WORLD RECORD BASS in lake FORK at this time. ALAN HENRY IS A STOCK POND NOT A LAKE

Of course all the brood fish would be accounted for, they would have died years ago? I know it would be great to imagine one of them slowly pushing a walker along with fuzzy yellow tennis balls on the front...passing over your favorite local hole...but.... Alan Henry can be a stock pond, but it looks like the glory days are gone there as well. If there is a world record bass in Fork I'd imagine it would only be from November to the end of March... Don't attack the sharelunker program, if anything we should all be grateful that Texas has enough interest in fishing and fisherman to have a program that is in our best interest of landing that fish of a lifetime. The program has come a very long way since its creation...no one will argue their mortality rates were insanely too high in the beginning... Ugh...I could go on and on but I better get back to stocking candy bars for the morning crowd of fisherman.

I love California anglers. They catch big fish but never certify anything and have some long sad story about extenuating circumstances. But how do they consider Dixon a LAKE when it is 75 acres? Thats pathetic. Come fish and stop fishing ponds You have to understand the way CA is put together. They build man made lakes there to hold water for drinking. Also, all of southern California area is canyon. Lot's of steep hills. If Texas is all you've seen, you don't understand what it looks like. So area wise, the lakes are tiny compared to TX. But they are all deep. I fished San Vicente in San Diego a lot when I lived there. It's only about 1200 acres, but it's over 120 feet deep in a lot of areas. And they are about to close it and add another 80 feet on to the dam to make it deeper. They don't have the room to make them larger, so they make them deep. They also don't have to worry as much about evaporation with the lakes deeper. You don't get 30-40 inches of rain a year there like you do here. They get 10 in a good year, so water is at a premium. Sandy Defresco catches a 21+ and they find a 2.5# diver's weight in the belly... They DID find that divers weight in her fish. But she did not put it there. The biologists who examined it, said the way the tissue had grown around it, it had been in there 2-3 years. And they removed that weight from her official catch weight. It was STILL a 19 pound bass without the weight. That ain't small potatoes.
