Don't know about the proteam 170 but sure like my proteam 175xt which is a 2001 model. tracker aluminum boats all seem to be pretty good values. Not great in high winds but other than that, very usable fishing platform for not alot of $$$. Added perk is they are lightweight so easy to tow and don't require a huge motor to power.

I have a 06 PT175. It's a good all around boat.

Like all people I have an opinion. If you take your time you can find a really nice bass boat made of fiberglass for less than you will pay a dealer for a slightly used flimsy tin boat. Spend several months researching boat ride, gas costs, then buy from a boat owner. I suggest nothing except Yamaha HPDI mounted on a Champion boat. Yamaha HPDI's get 35 percent more gas mileage than an EFI, and Champion's have the smoothest ride in my opinion.

My friends both have trackers one is the 17 and the other the 175. I think the 175 handles wave action and rides smoother with that extra lenght.

I'll second bumping up to the 175XT if you can swing it. The extra length and width both make it more stable on the water. Also, before you decide, go out in some boats and see how they feel on the water if you can. If you are thinking new, the dealer should be willing to take you out in a couple of boats so you can see the differences. If used, ALWAYS take it out for a test ride before you buy. Can't stress that enough. Starting a motor in a trash can is simply not the same as running the boat out in the water for a few minutes.

My final advice is go late model used. The big depreciation hit is those first 3-5 years. Find a clean boat that is 3-5 years old and you can save 30-50 percent off new price.
