Go to www.lewisvillefishing.net as I believe those guys have made a float dow it before. Unfortunately I had to work that week end and couldnt make it out to join them.

I am not sure whether they went up river and back or whether they put in at Green Belt and had a vehicle waiting with a trailer to get everyones Yak.

I know they just had a GTG this pst 28th and are talking about another GTG at Green Belt for another float. Amber or TomE would be you best POC on that evolution.

I think south of 380 there is a gigantic log jam that would preven you from easily paddling into Lake Lewisville. There may be an alternate path when the lake is up, but I am not sure abuot right now. I have floated several times from the Ray Bob Dam down to Sherman Drive, which is about 1/2 way between te dam and 380. It's a good float and there are lots of fish there.

This is a great trip. I recomend that you have two vehicles for trip. You will find a lot of Gar in the side streams.

what kind of fish do you normally catch down there? I have a couple yaks and a friend of mine and me were talking about floating and fishing it. Just not sure what all to expect.

Good Catfish... Excellent white bass and crappie during the spring spawn. There are some good bass and sunfish there too.. It's your typical small water river/creek.. Just use live bait or small lures and you'll probably catch a little of everything.

I have not done the 380 to Lake Lewisville trip, but did make the mistake about a year ago of putting in behind Ray Roberts dam to float ALL THE WAY down to the 380 park...because a buddy said it would be fine. It took all stinkin day and we did not catch a fish (mostly dealt with trying to get down the river), had to portage around several log jams and get out of the canoe to drag it over low water.....I was beat the next day, good thing we went on a Saturday.

I should have done my homework and made it a shorter trip and waited until after a rain for the water to be a little higher.

Would be interested to know if you can canoe from 380 to Lake Lewisville...and where you would take out....I'd be interested in that trip. I've heard the fishing is good too, just never done it yet.

Cheers,

Ken
